Infobox image

[edit]

I think we should be able to find a better image than File:Sultan Ibrahim Ismail (48400998097) (cropped).jpg for the infobox, but I'm having a bit of trouble immediately finding one that is freely licensed. Should anyone find one such image of him as Sultan, I'd like it in the infobox, but we need the licensing on it to be free before we do so. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 00:48, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please change "an English lady from Torquay" to "an English woman from Torquay". Her article makes her sound like a commoner, not a lady, and as the daughter of someone involved in the textile business (citation #5 in this article), she again isn't likely to have been a lady, or titled at all until she married the Sultan. 123.51.107.94 (talk) 23:38, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"lady" is regularly used in the English language to refer to a woman, so in that context there is no title involved and it's not necessary to make the change. However, "woman" is the more usual word in English anyway, so it's fine to use that.

Page title

[edit]

The way the page is currently titled appears to be an attempt to distinguish him from his ancestor Ibrahim of Johor. None of the official sources refer to him as Ibrahim Iskandar and neither do the secondary sources. His name is "Ibrahim ibni Iskandar", where the name "Iskandar" is patronymic. I was planning to address this via an RM but wanted to see if anyone cared enough to comment here first with their ideas. Keivan.fTalk 19:05, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

agreed, but wikipedia doesn't typically use "bin", "ibni" etc in the name as it is commonly dropped in English. eg: "Hussein Onn", "Anwar Ibrahim", "Mahathir Mohammed" etc.
Perhaps the page title should be renamed Ibrahim II of Johor? Though there is no official source referring to him as such, the current Johor Sultan is in fact the 2nd Sultan Ibrahum of Johor. BaronVonchesto (talk) 04:43, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox titles

[edit]

There is a rogue editor by the name of Heather Fix who unfortunately do not have the mental capabilities to comprehend the difference between an office and a title and insists on continuously putting almost every YDPA title in the infobox office rather than his title. And also these articles have been in this way for the past 5 years or so and do not require you to change the contents as you see fit. Please stop embarrassing yourself and educate yourself before editing. Thank you
