Reliable sources give no diacritic over the e for this football player, who plays in Tottenham, an English Premier League club, and who evidently has chosen to make his name not have one. This is common in sports. https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Gringoladomenega is engaging in unsubstantiated "correction", as in overcorrection, and edit warring, to boot, without providing one scintilla of evidence that such overcorrection is supported by reliable sources. I call on the users who are overcorrecting, including the BLP author, to desist. Further lack of discussion and forcing the issue will most likely result in indefinite blocks for the parties concerned, as being disruptive to the Wikipedia editing process and harmful to the BLP upkeep in particular. --Mareklug talk 01:08, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
- I have to apologize here. It turns out the reliable sources give conflicting advice on this issue. We have to respect what his current club, Tottenham FC lists: http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/first-team-profiles/yago-falqué/ Best wishes, --Mareklug talk 01:32, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Hi Gringoladomenega: I let [you have a] source, so you can check that I am right [that this player's name is properly spelled without the diacritic]: Enlace Thanks, Harpagornis (talk) 01:17, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

- http://www.fifa.com/world-match-centre/news/newsid/149/889/6/ -- I have never had such a silly talk. Harpagornis (talk) 01:43, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
- ok, I believe you. The problem is that [on] many pages [his name] appears written [as] "Falqué". --Gringoladomenega talk 9 February 2014 (UTC)
- I know, but that's a mistake from the beginning [of his career] as a [listed] player. Most news reporters -- [what] they do is increase [and propagate] this error, until [by] now [it] seems to be normal [and accepted] spelling. Harpagornis (talk) 01:53, 9 February 2014 (UTC) We need to get a [Wikipedia BLP correction on this] result, [in order] to forget this [propagated by media error of] fact. Please [cooperate.] --Harpagornis (talk) 02:25, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

I refactored the above, insisting on indentation, to make it clear that this is a two-person discussion, and that there is an argument on merit going on here: whether this international soccer player's true name is Iago Falque or Iago Falqué. I suspect that there may be two common surnames in the Spanish-speaking world: one would be Falque (pronounced: faalk), and the other would be Falqué (pronounced: fahl-KEH, accent on que). --Mareklug talk 18:18, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
- @Mareklug: Actually, the accent on the e simply indicates a change in stress, not a change in pronunciation. "Falque" would be pronounced "FAL-keh", while "Falqué" is pronounced "fal-KEH". – PeeJay 14:02, 11 August 2015 (UTC)
Birthdate
[edit]Falque's birthdate is listed as April 4 and January 4 (both in 1990)...which is correct? FCB's official site doesn't have any squad information for Barça Atletic, so I don't know where to look for reliable information. Does anyone have any reliable sources that would tell us which is the correct date? Isaiah (talk) 12:49, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
He is currentrly playng for Juventus FC in Italy —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gazza8484 (talk • contribs) 13:16, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
Transferred from where?
[edit]Following his transfer to Spurs, he is then involved in a number of loan transfers, options, etc. With some of these it is unclear, but it appears that at the end of each loan, he returns to Spurs. It appears that he is eventually transferred by Spurs to Genoa. Is that correct? If so can you possibly tidy up this section for clarity. TYVM.46.7.85.68 (talk) 16:10, 12 February 2017 (UTC)
The transcription
[edit]@Adorian: Hello :) Do you sure it's Galician pronouciation? Completely the same as Spanish one? LoveVanPersie (talk) 03:20, 20 March 2018 (UTC)
