Talk:I Sing a Song of the Saints of God

The article currently attributes the composition of the melody to "John Henry Hopkins, Jr.", with a link to his bio.
But when you click on that link, the bio there says that JHH Jr. did *not* write this melody; rather, this melody was written by his nephew, JHH III.
I am not going to make the change myself, because I don't have any independent authority to go on (perhaps the other page has it wrong, and this page has it right).
But someone should figure out which John Henry Hopkins wrote this song, and make sure both pages are in agreement! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.127.179.47 (talk) 18:16, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
Following up:
JHHJr.'s dates are 1820 – 1891. So there's no way that he could have written the melody to this song.
The Hymnal 1982 According to the Use of the Episcopal Church (Church Publishing Incorporated, New York) on page 293 attributes the melody to "John Henry Hopkins, 1861-1945".
Not clearly the nephew, JHH III, but clearly *not* JHHJr.
So I think it is safe to conclude that *this* page is wrong in attributing the melody to JHH Jr.
And fairly safe to guess that the other page is correct in attributing it to the nephew.
But I still leave it to others to make the changes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.127.179.47 (talk) 18:22, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
