Please stick to IUCN Red List [1] when you add or remove species, subspecies, varieties, stocks or sub-populations. Binomial and trinomial nomenclature should be used, no more. To get more clarity, surname of scientific authority should be ignored. |
Too scientific?
[edit]I mean, it would probably be a sensible thing to put the common name in parenthesis, like e. g. "Diptera (Flies)" since not all of us are zoologists and know what hides behind the order name. -andy 77.191.192.78 (talk) 09:37, 21 March 2013 (UTC)
Ugh...
[edit]This page couldn't be any more annoying if it tried.
I came here hoping to see a normal list of extinct animals, not an entire page of Latin names. - 79.68.210.12 (talk) 08:19, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
Reverts without explanation
[edit]If you are going to revert edits that add the common name alongside the latin, please be kind enough to explain why they aren't allowed on this page, when they ARE mentioned in the source page. Statty (talk) 20:11, 10 July 2017 (UTC)
Names
[edit]I think someone should add the common names of these animals/plants for the people unaware 217.137.18.153 (talk) 00:05, 16 December 2021 (UTC)
Haplochromis
[edit]Many of these genus of fish are listed as extinct, but their page and other sources mark them as data deficient. Nelliebellie (talk) 06:29, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
