ICAR cife rohtak centre is the only research center in india dedicated towards, inland saline aquaculture research. The main research achievements of this centers are 1. they have developed a unique technology to culture marine shrimps in inland saline waters of haryana. The main highlight of this technology is, the saline water prevalent in haryana has different ionic composition compared to that of sea water, so these waters are amended with certain ions to grow marine shrimps and fishes. Actually these saline affected lands are non productive and could not be used for any worthwhile agricultural activity. Using the technology developed by this center a farmer can earn about 10,00,000 to 15,00,000 Rs per hectare.[reply]
