[edit]There have been recent removal of lyrics in this and other fight song articles based on a conclusion arrived at Wikipedia:Centralized discussion/Fight songs. However, this conclusion violates WP:CON: 'Consensus' among a small number of editors can never override the community consensus that is presented in Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. WP:Lyrics states only that articles may not consist only of lyrics to avoid being a primary source and may not contain lyrics that aren't within the public domain. This article discusses the lyrics in context to the University of North Carolina and does not serve as a primary source (UNC School Songs). Public domain lyrics are not banned according to consensus achieved at WP:SONG#LYRICS and by example with WP:FA passage of PD songs such as Dixie. I am, however, concerned to the WP:PD status of these lyrics as they may have first been published after January 1st, 1923. Please clarify the PD status. CrazyPaco (talk) 17:09, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit]There is a confusing contradiction between the I'm a Tar Heel Born article and the article on Boomer Sooner. That article states that an addition was added to Boomer Sooner in 1906 which was inspired by I'm a Tar Heel Born. However, The I'm a Tar Heel Born article states that the song was not sung until the 1920s. The references also contain this contradiction. Are there any better sources?

Here Comes Carolina
[edit]The Here Comes Carolina link goes to the North Carolina Tar Heels page and not to any page that discusses the song. In addition, Here Comes Carolina is one of many school songs and is not the UNC fight song. Jamesleegilbert (talk) 05:36, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
