Educational assignment

[edit]
Thanks for the tag, but it goes nowhere and other editors have no way of knowing which project, which school, which professor, which class, which online ambassador. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:33, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry! I've added some details now, and to the other articles the students are editing. polypompholyx (talk) 16:04, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Very nice start on this article! If your students have queries about any of my edits, MEDMOS, MEDRS or how to use Diberri, please ask! SandyGeorgia (Talk) 17:22, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Medical guidelines

[edit]

Please see WP:MEDMOS and WP:MEDRS for how to organize and source medical articles.

This Dispatch is helpful in locating the correct kinds of sources (secondary reviews): Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2008-06-30/Dispatches. This article currently has text on medications sourced to a pilot study: that text should be removed or cited to a secondary review.

This template filler is helpful in generating citations from a PubMed identified (PMID). SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:35, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Secondary reviews

[edit]
  • Merica H, Fortune RD (2004). "State transitions between wake and sleep, and within the ultradian cycle, with focus on the link to neuronal activity". Sleep Med Rev. 8 (6): 473–85. doi:10.1016/j.smrv.2004.06.006. PMID 15556379. {{cite journal}}: Unknown parameter |month= ignored (help)

is a recent review that should be consulted. Every other review I found by searching PubMed was non-English or old:

  • Leonetta V, Livani ML, Di Benedetto G, Nebbioso M (2010). "[Influence between sleep and epilepsy: synopsis and prospectus]". Clin Ter (in Italian). 161 (5): 465–70. PMID 20949246.{{cite journal}}: CS1 maint: multiple names: authors list (link)

SandyGeorgia (Talk) 17:34, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

is not marked in PubMed as a review, but it does have some review info, so if used correctly, may be useful. 17:38, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

For the Wilson, Nutt source,[1] PMID 20813762 is more recent. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 20:16, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Normal" Hypnogram

[edit]

The illustration in the article of a normal hynogram (the OR of someone with who has no User page) in my opinion requires a lirttle explanation. It appears to illustrate a normal adult sleeping pattern as being to wake up, and more than once, in the middle of the night. In the diagram this is shown as appx 4hrs into the night's sleep, first momentarily and then a second time for ten minutes or so. Night awakenings are not normal, and are classified in DSM-5 as a form of insomnia, if regularly experienced and with consequential impacts on daily life. Would someone with formal expertise on the subject please comment? LookingGlass (talk) 11:12, 17 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
