Merge Back extension article into this one.

[edit]

The two articles, Back extension and Hyperextension (exercise) appear to describe the same exercise. I have usually heard it described as a hyperextension, which is why I suggest that Back extension be merged here, but if someone more knowledgeable can demonstrate that the merge should be the other way around, so that Hyperextension (exercise) is merged into Back extension, then fine. On that point, does the hyper- prefix in the term hyperextension indicate a more extreme action than a simple back extension, or are the terms identical in the context of exercise? Perhaps this could be clarified in the merged article. (There are two articles on hyperextension describing how the term is used in different domains: Hyperextension (exercise) and Extension (kinesiology)). — O'Dea (talk) 11:12, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Agree - I also have heard this movement as "Hyperextension". However, I feel that for a person with no knowledge of this movement, it might not be clear that its for the back. But like you said, the clarification can be provided in the merged article. In my opinion, back extension can be merged here with a redirect to this page. Agreed, they are the same movement performed on different equipment. 75.180.29.69 (talk) 13:19, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
