Parallel and Series hybrid buses
[edit]For further information see Hybrid vehicle drivetrain. I have travelled on both a parallel hybrid Volvo B5L and a series hybrid Alexander Dennis Enviro400. On the Volvo, the diesel engine stops at bus stops. The vehicle re-starts using only the electric motor and the diesel engine does not re-start until a speed of 10mph is reached. On the Alexander Dennis, the diesel engine runs continuously, even when the bus is stationary. Is this difference common to all parallel and series hybrids? Biscuittin (talk) 18:25, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
Does the above behaviour mean that the bus should be described as a mild hybrid, since the battery only carries the bus a short distance before the motor starts to replenish the electric power used?

Re-ordering content
[edit]I have reordered to existing content, without removing or adding any content, demoting sections that are basically directories ('manufacturers' and 'list of transit authorities') to give more prominence to sections that are more general, in particular ones that relate to drive-train.
