impoundment?
[edit]The article presently says the reservoir is an impoundment of Keene Creek. Though one could well be present, the topo map for the area doesn't show a dam, nor does it show an outlet: presumably Keene Creek. Could this area be arid enough that an impoundment without an outlet is feasible? —EncMstr (talk) 02:30, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- Honestly I just looked at Google maps and GNIS to see that it's a reservoir, not a lake, and I just assumed it was an impoundment. I didn't realize you can have reservoirs without dams. Duh. If you can find out more, please do, meanwhile I'll crop out the dubious info. OGN has nada about the name. Katr67 (talk) 04:12, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hyatt Reservoir is indeed impounded; I've been there. :) There's a detailed description of Hyatt Dam's construction about halfway down at the bottom of the 'Plan' section here. Page 21 of this also describes nearby Keene Creek Reservoir as a regulator for the release of water from Hyatt 'Prairie' and Howard Prairie reservoirs.
