UPDATE
[edit]As of Mid-April 2007, Huy Fong announced publicly that the company is temporarily out-of-stock on ALL products and NOT taking any orders due to the shortage of chili peppers. Few local distributors, knowing that the company is still open for business even though they claimed they have stopped production, find this story very hard to swallow. They dismissed this announcement as a smokescreen for the company's inability to meet demands on all business fronts and chose to honor and fill their contract for one particularly large, mainstream, out-of-state business entity that may provide Huy Fong a greater national exposure than the majority of the company's niche loyal Asian distributors which did not receive any products. One anonymous distributor claimed one of Huy Fong's female sales rep even told him/her early on in March that the company was gearing up only for the month of April through June to ship entire inventory to an unnamed out-of-state distributor and that they weren't able to honor anyone else's order until further notice, only to have the story altered to "lack of Chili Peppers to produce the sauces" later when asked again about the same situation. All distributors were told that the company will replenish their inventory sometimes in the month of July and advise them to call back at a later date since no customers' orders are taken. UPDATE: As of July 11, 2007, customers were advised of stock availability and orders filled.--—Preceding unsigned comment added by Mitchellgant (talk • contribs)
Image
[edit]Is it possible to get a picture of the cock sauce bottle without someone's hand in it? I don't see what's added to the image by someone holding onto the bottle, especially in a manner that nobody would ever hold it except to pose for a picture! Tomertalk 14:21, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Copyvio
[edit]Blanking most of the content for now. Much of it seems to have been lifted straight from the company website here. Normally it's better to improve than delete, but WP:COPYVIO is an exception. If anyone wants to start fixing it and restoring it, please be sure that the material is original to Wikipedia. Thanks, Wikidemon (talk) 15:58, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, I've restored a version with all of the original text excised. It looks like the copyvio is all from an account that made only a single edit to the encyclopedia, to create the original version of the article as a plagiarism of Huy Fong's website.[1] Some of the remaining text sounds suspiciously like marketing material but I can't find it in a web search so i will let it be for now. But if anyone wants to improve the tone to make the article sound less promotional that would be great. Wikidemon (talk) 16:18, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for careful review of the text. I did a lot of research and wrote a lot of the text from scratch, so your discerning eye is greatly appreciated. Badagnani (talk) 21:05, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
Recipe changes
[edit]Currently, it says "The company's most popular product is its sriracha sauce. Its recipe has not changed since 1983 except that it was formerly made with Serrano peppers and is currently made with red Jalapeño peppers, reducing the overall pungency." To me, what this says is, "The recipe hasn't changed, except the main ingredient". I mean, really people. --204.154.109.20 (talk) 00:42, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
Irwindale History of Corruption is Relevant, Even if it's been Systematically Eliminated from Wiki
[edit]Irwindale has a long, proud history of widespread corruption, and avoiding that corruption is mentioned as a reason for Huy Fong paying off the loan early and a reason for Irwindale's vindictiveness in many press articles. But all mention of that has been scrubbed from wikipedia - why?
Wiki previously contained numerous links to widespread corruption in Irwindale, for example: https://www.princeton.edu/~achaney/tmve/wiki100k/docs/Irwindale,_California.html
Recent news shows past corruption is still alive and prospering:

Critique
[edit]There are a lot of citations that are missing and need to be added so this can be a more reliable article. Also the paragraph about the community relations is very one sided and could use more information. The community living near the factory was not just bothered by the strong smell, the smell of chili peppers actually made their eyes water and sinuses act up <California Geography class at UC Berkeley> Juliahouser (talk) 16:58, 2 February 2017 (UTC)
