Plan for the article - started 10MAR13

[edit]

This article is about a key event in the French & Indian War hostilities in New Jersey that led to the military buildup of the Delaware River valley, retributive expeditions in the wilderness to suppress hostile native americans, the Treaty of Easton ejecting the Lenape from most of New Jersey, and a sensational trial and execution of a man who some sources assert was innocent. I expect to expand and develop this article with this outline below:

  • Lede
  • 1.0 The Raid
  • 1.1 Frontier tensions before the raid and F&I War
  • 1.2 Attack against the Hunt household
  • 1.3 Attack against the Swartout household
  • 1.4 Failed attack against Harker household
  • 2.0 The three-year captivity of several family members
  • 2.1 Captivity
  • 2.2 Treaty of Easton ends hostilities, returns prisoners
  • 2.3 their 1759 Return under Treaty of Easton
  • 3.0 Trial and Execution
  • 4.0 See also
  • 5.0 References (Notes / Further reading)
  • 6.0 External links

I would hope to make this article worthy of review for GA/FA within a month. --ColonelHenry (talk) 16:48, 10 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
