"rendering the first manifesto a historic document only."

[edit]

Um, sorry? --153.9.7.77 (talk) 18:55, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed this phrase for three reasons. First, saying that Human Manifesto I is historic only incorrectly suggests the other manifestos are not historical in nature. All of the manifestos are historic documents. They have all been created at particular moments in history. They all reflect the views of the authors and signers at particular moments in history. Second, saying that Humanist Manifesto I is historic only suggests the other manifestos are something more than historic. What is this something more? Divine inspiration? Third, saying that Humanist Manifesto I is historic only implies that its content is out-of-date...that it is something believed in times past but no longer believed today. This is definitely a personal point of view. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.214.42.64 (talk) 04:38, 29 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The linked magazine is published in the UK and, although founded in 1885, has only had that name since 1972. The New Humanist which published HM1 was edited in Chicago by Edwin H Wilson, one of the authors and signees of HM1. Sorry to say, I do not have more information about that magazine. As far as I could learn, the two magazines are conflated [almost?] everywhere on the internet. Jocanfan (talk) 22:20, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
