[edit]everything written in the contents of the page Hu Bing are facts. I've cited multiple links to independent internet sources which supports the information posted in the page. I modeled the page after pages of other actors/celebrities (both American and Chinese), so I'm really not sure where it violated Wikipedia guidelines. The purpose of this page is nothing more than letting people know who Mr. Hu Bing is, since he is a famous Chinese celebrity and an Asian fashion icon.
- I've seen thousands of articles on Wikipedia, and edited thousands more, and have never seen a more blatantly promotional vehicle--there's not a sentence that passes the WP:NPOV guideline. 99.149.85.229 (talk) 20:41, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
Please allow me to apologize if I sounded obnoxious, I did not mean any offense whatsoever. My goal is really just let people know who Mr. Hu Bing is. This is the first time I've posted an article on Wikipedia, and I plan to post more later. Since I'm a newbie at this, I'd appreciate it greatly if you can tell me how I can edit the article in more details to meet the guidelines. As I understand it, and I can be wrong, people's profiles on here do have a promotional effect regardless. Thank you for your time! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roaminglife (talk • contribs) 21:21, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
- I'd strongly suggest reading Wikipedia's guidelines if you wish to edit here. Some of the relevant ones are WP:NPOV, WP:ADVERT, WP:PEACOCK and perhaps WP:COI. An encyclopedia is not the place to post promotional content, although many users think otherwise. Thanks, 99.149.85.229 (talk) 21:25, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for your assistance. I understand this is not a place to post promotional content and I apologize if my writing suggested otherwise. Would it be better if I removed some of the pictures? And replaced phrases such as "household name" and "Greek-warrior-like physique"? I understand those phrases sound promotional and I have no problem in replacing them, but in my defense, he really is a chinese household name. Though it may seem otherwise, everything I worte in the article are true to the best of my knowledge. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roaminglife (talk • contribs) 21:37, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
- I'd start by stripping ALL unsourced content, especially the rampant use of superlatives, and only include sentences that can be supported with inline citations from reliable sources, per WP:RELIABLE. Right now, not even Albert Einstein and God sound like they could shine his shoes. 99.149.85.229 (talk) 21:43, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
LOL...Okay, GUILTY! I'll do my best to modify the article and make it sound more unbiased. I am currently in China right now and it's almost 6am here, please allow me some time before deleting the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roaminglife (talk • contribs) 21:54, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
- Only an administrator can delete a page. They will look at the rationale for deletion and make a decision. You can always work on a page in your userspace, but even there, if it's considered purely promotional it can be taken down. 99.149.85.229 (talk) 21:58, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
- And yes, one image is all that's really needed, rather than a fashion show. 99.149.85.229 (talk) 22:05, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for your time, much apprecited. Good day! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roaminglife (talk • contribs) 22:14, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
