[edit]

The article is written as if there is some generic seasoning that is called Hozön in Japanese cuisine. But in fact, it is a brand name product produced by David Chang, LLC, with a trademark filed in December 2012 (see [1]). The article either needs to be rewritten with that in mind--and then pass WP:GNG as a brand-name product--or it should be deleted as advertisement. Note that the same user has created another article, Bönji, based on another David Chang product, and using the same fake neutrality. Creating these two articles are the only two edits this user has made. Michitaro (talk) 01:42, 16 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback

[edit]

Thanks for the feedback, Michitaro! It was not an attempt at fake neutrality--these products are popping up in restaurants and the media and I was interested in documenting that. I will add in the trademark info about the terms so the origin is clear though. Barberinibee (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 19:21, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have added the fact that it is a brand-name product to the lede. I will not remove the neutrality and advert tags, however, because I am concerned that words like "traditional" may again reflect the effort, evident in the name of the product itself, to pass off a new brand-name product as something age-old. I have removed traditional from the language used, though it was only referring to standard cooking technique not the new items themselves. Thanks!Barberinibee (talk) 15:00, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Michitaro, can you consider removing the neutrality and advert tags now? I have made all the changes you asked and the products are now found across the country (as evidenced by the menus). Please let me know what you think. Thanks! Barberinibee (talk) 22:59, 20 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Need archive of lost David Chang video

[edit]

A number of sources describing hozon & bonji refer to a Momofuku video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aktiU3FVB30 explaining the process. Unfortunately the video is now unavailable and the Momofuku website is also a little broken. Would be nice if someone had saved the video somewhere else… Artoria2e5 🌉 11:13, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
