I think there's a lot of work that needs to be done on sourcing for this article to meet the GA criteria. The sources for all significant facts needs to be made clear, and all quotations properly attributed. A few more detailed comments on individual sections follow.

Lead
  • The lead is too short to adequately summarise the article.
Early life
  • What's the source for the material in the first paragraph?
  • Ref #4 is dead, meaning that this entire section is uncited.
World War II
  • The second paragraph contains a great many facts and several quotations, none of which are cited.
  • "The official history stated, that the famous Skoda works in Pilsen 'received 500 well-placed tons, and that 'Because of a warning sent out ahead of time the workers were able to escape, except for five persons.'" Something wrong with the punctuation there, is a closing quotation mark missing after "tons"?
  • Ref 10 claims to be called "Interview with Zinn", with no date, or author given, yet it's actually an article by Zinn entitled "Howard Zinn: After the War".
  • "Zinn said his experience as a wartime bombardier, combined with his research into the reasons for, and effects of the bombing of Royan and Pilsen, sensitized him to the ethical dilemmas faced by G.I.s during wartime." Ref #10 makes no mention at all of the bombing of Royan or Pilsen.
Education
  • "After World War II, Zinn attended New York University on the GI Bill, graduating with a B.A. in 1951 and Columbia University". Should that be from Columbia University?
Academic career
  • First two paragraphs are uncited.
  • The penultimate paragraph is uncited except for an external link part way through the first sentence. External links should only appear in an External links section.
Anti-war efforts
  • "Zinn wrote one of the earliest books calling for the U.S. withdrawal from its war in Vietnam." That's a bold claim that needs to be cited.
  • "Most of the jurors later said that they voted for acquittal. [p. 161]". Page 161 of what?
References in popular culture
References
  • There are at least nine dead links.[1]
  • Ref #70 is a spam link, it supports nothing.
  • Each citation should give full details of the source, including the publisher and last access date if online.

As these issues remain outstanding this article has not been listed as a GA. Malleus Fatuorum 17:35, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
