Notability
[edit]For any admin or others who comes by this article considering deletion, please note the claim made in the article that the movie is "the first independent cinema in Sri Lanka". I have no idea if this is true, but per WP:FILMNOT a film is potentially notable if it "contributes significantly to the development of a national cinema". As such I would suggest that this should go to AfD at least if deletion is being considered - it should not be speedied on notability grounds in my opinion. (Note that I have not contributed to the article other than removing speedy tags) Thparkth (talk) 19:11, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- Speedy-ing on account of notability is a no-no. So the only viable options would be PROD or AfD. I'll take a look at the claim to notability later this evening. Jarkeld (talk) 19:25, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- The notability claim is backed up by what looks like a reliable secondary source: The Nation. Jarkeld (talk) 21:23, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- Regarding the post of Thparkth-- The article itself doesn't claims that it is the "the first independent cinema in Sri Lanka". Article only quotes a claim made by filmmakers themselves and some newspapers (i've added the reference link to newspaper). And talking about the the notability, i've added few more cites to prove the notability of subject. --Nidahasa (talk) 11:03, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
- So it sounds like the claim is true. That solidifies the claim to notability. Thparkth (talk) 13:09, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
