Worst firefighting disaster in Boston history?
[edit]Not sure this is accurate. The Great Boston Fire of 1872 states 12 firefighters were killed in that incident which surpasses this one. What are we basing this statement on? --Kuzwa (talk) 02:10, 28 November 2022 (UTC)
- While there were 11 or 12 firefighters killed in the 1872 fire, only 2 were members of the BFD, 1 was a volunteer, and others were firefighters from other departments - such as West Roxbury and Charlestown. Both those towns were eventually annexed to Boston but, until that time, maintained fire departments as independent towns.Irish Melkite (talk) 02:35, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
