[edit]Is it "persona non grata" if you haven't presented your credentials yet? I'm not sure whether he had... AnonMoos 16:52, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
- Probably not. The Telegraph obituary says he was "rejected", and the interview with the man himself makes a distinction between what happened to him and the normal procedures of either refusing an appointment or declaring someone persona non grata after they have arrived. I'm also dubious about the reason given for the rejection (Jewish ancestry). The Telegraph says background (which is ambiguous), while the interview implies it was because they discovered he was Jewish. I'll change the text to match both these points. - The word "withdrawn" makes it sound like the British government was responsible, though it was the Saudi government. AnonMoos (talk) 02:38, 30 August 2018 (UTC)
