GA Review

I love this episode. Such a classic! lol. I doubt it will take long for you to address these and get this up to GA!

Intro:

  • "Homer, having seen too many bad college movies, goofs off, so he is sent to a group of boys for tutoring." This read awkwardly to me. Could we perhaps rephrase it to something like, "Homer, who bases his perception of college from bad comedy films, goof around too much and is sent to a group of boys for tutoring" or something like that?
    • That works. Done.
  • "'Homer Goes to College' was directed by Jim Reardon and was the final episode of the show for which Conan O'Brien received sole writing credit; the episode "Treehouse of Horror IV", which he co-wrote with five others, was the final episode he received a writing credit for." Since this article is about "Homer Goes to College" and not about Conan, I don't think this stuff about "Treehouse of Horror IV" needs to be in the lead. I'm fine with leaving it in the Production section, but for the lead, I'd axe everything in this sentence after the semicolon.
    • Done.

Production:

  • "The Fox Network executives had wanted the season premiere to be "Homer Goes to College" because it was an Animal House parody." What does the fact that it's an Animal House have to do with them wanting it to be a premiere?
    • Not entirely sure, but that's what they say in the commentary.
  • "This line was an ad-lib by Dan Castellaneta. During recording, Dan was singing the song and accidentally misspelled "smart"." These two sentences seem to contradict each other. Ad-lib indicates he did it on purpose, but then in the latter sentence you say it was an accident. Which was it? Could you reword it accordingly?
    • Done, I reworded the entire bit.
  • "Jim Reardon directed the episode and has noted that he remembers the episode for several scenes in which action is viewed through windows." This seems sort of interesting, but could you put in a few example to illustrate this?
    • Done.

Images:

  • Could you add at least one image to this article beside the infobox? I think either a Conan O'Brien image to the Production section, or an Animal House one to Cultural References (or maybe both) would be appropriate.
    • Added one of Conan. I had meant to originally, but forgot.

Please address each objection individually. I'll check them off as we go. Putting this on hold for now. Best of luck! — Hunter Kahn (contribs) 04:45, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A good article is:

  1. Well-written: Prose is good, MOS is good.
  2. Factually accurate and verifiable: Sources are good, no original research.
  3. Broad in its coverage: Covers main aspects, no unneeded detail.
  4. Neutral: Yes.
  5. Stable: Yes.
  6. Illustrated, if possible, by images: Yes.
