The Creation of this Article
[edit]Hello, my name is Magen Eissenstat, and I am a student at Rice University. I created this article as part of an educational assignment (for more information on the assignment/course, see the course banner at the top of this top page). I am excited to make my first contribution to Wikipedia and will continue to expand and improve it in the coming months. Please feel free to let me know if you have any suggestions, critiques, or advice! I am thankful for the edits that Wikipedians have already made and look forward to continuing to become a part of this collaborative community. Magenstat (talk) 02:51, 20 October 2014 (UTC)
Response to article creation
[edit]Thank you for creating this page. The article addresses a demographic of the homeless population that is often overlooked. You summarize the existing literature well and offer a comprehensive view of the topic. I think the addition of relevant images would improve the quality of this article. Additionally, I would work on finding more relevant sources to strengthen your claims and offer a variety of perspectives. You do a great job of citing multiple sources per claim, but you could use more sources. All in all, great start! Aqjiang (talk) 20:50, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
Comments on article so far
[edit]This article is coming along really well so far. There are a couple places where spelling is an issue, but you have kept a neutral tone on an issue with the potential for a lot of controversy. Nice job. I think that it could be positive if you added where the non-profit organizations are based. BSchilling (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 22:56, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
Capitalized section titles in this article
[edit]@Magenstat: I noticed that most of the section titles in this article are capitalized. Would it be necessary to change them to lowercase titles? Jarble (talk) 04:04, 22 November 2014 (UTC) @Jarble: That's correct, thank you so much for letting me know! I will make that fix. Magenstat (talk) 23:09, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
Possible New Article
[edit]This is a great parent article for a possible stemming article, or maybe a new, elongated section, regarding transgender youth homelessness specifically. I am David Cirillo, a student from Rice University, and would like to develop this in the near future. DCirillo14 (talk) 16:35, 10 September 2015 (UTC)DCirillo14
Updating Federal Policy Section
[edit]Hello, I am a student from UC Berkeley and I would like to propose some changes to the federal policy subsection of the response section of this article. I will update the section to include more recent information regarding the United States' federal policy regarding LGBT youth homelessness. Sources will include Focus on Unaccompanied Youth brief by the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness in 2018, and the On the Streets: The Federal Response to Gay and Transgender Homeless Youth by the Center for American Progress in 2010. I will organize the information so that it is in chronological order. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Abains1721 (talk • contribs) 04:58, 2 December 2020 (UTC)

citation needed for "corrective rape in New York City" statement
[edit]I added citation needed for the statement
The Hetrick-Martin Institute showed that among homeless queer girls aged 13–15 in New York City, that 50% of them were homeless because they were fleeing familial corrective rape.
the reference given, (Kristofferson, Cathy (1 January 2013). "The ongoing plight of homeless queer youth". http://oblogdeeoblogda.me/2013/01/01/the-ongoing-plight-of-homeless-queer-youth/ ) does not have a link or formal reference. A Google search of search for "Hetrick-Martin Institute corrective rape" found nothing. Hetrick-Martin Institute exists and has a site http://hmi.org but I could not find any such article on it. Ttulinsky (talk) 21:10, 31 July 2023 (UTC)
I contacted Hetrick-Martin Institute on Jul 31, 2023 but have not received a response as of Sept 26, 2023. (note to self: tomsky48 email Date: Mon, Jul 31, 2023 at 1:45 PM, Subject: Thank you for contacting HMI ). Ttulinsky (talk) 00:25, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
