GA Review

[edit]

I am reviewing the article.--Redtigerxyz (talk) 14:00, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA review (see here for criteria)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose): b (MoS):
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:
  • References not in the format stated at Wikipedia:Citing sources.  Done
  • Page numbers needed for the book reference.  Done
  • Lead is too short.  Done
  • There are many 1-2 sentences paragraphs, which should be minimized "since they can inhibit the flow of the text". Also, "Short paragraphs and single sentences generally do not warrant their own subheading". (WP:LAYOUT) Applicable for "1880 – Soup Kitchen" Merge sentences to form bigger paras. A reorganization may be needed.  Done
  • There is unneccessary bolding of words.  Done
  • Too many images. The text is sandwiched between images.  Done
  • The Bulleted list in "1950 – 1973 The First Museum" should be converted into paragraph form.  Done
  • The "The Holy Jesus Hospital" was built in 1681, right? then how does the building have a "remarkable 700 year history". "British History.ac.uk" reference starts it's info from 1681. The site of the building has a "700 year history". right? The lead should give some context that the land was initially a Augustinian Friary, then a Hospital and Soup Kitchen. The reader will not (read "I was") confused to find a first section about "a Augustinian Friary", when the article is about a Hospital. A rewrite is needed. e.g. "in 1291 land was gifted by William Baron of Wark on Tweed to found an Augustinian Friary on the site." in the first section (the site is vague), write something like "the land, on which Holy Jesus Hospital was built in 1681, was gifted in 1291 by William Baron of Wark on Tweed to found an Augustinian Friary"  Done
  • "remarkable" is a WP:PEACOCK term.  Done
  • What is "James the Fourth, Norman MacDougall" ???  Done

RESULT: GA FAIL. All the best improving the article. --Redtigerxyz (talk) 14:44, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
