This article is about the wrong place. Holdenhurst is a village just outside Bournemouth at the eastern end of the Throop conservation area. The Holdenhurst Road is so called because before the A338 was widened and extended in the late 1960's the road used to lead from the centre of Bournemouth to Holdenhurst village. The error is understandable but this article describes an area of Bournemouth around the Holdenhurst road that is actually known as Springbourne, or at one end Queens Park (although the main area of Queens Park was cut off from Springbourne by the construction of the A338. I don't understand this. Holdenhurst is within the boundaries of the Borough of Bournemouth and indeed in the North-East part. If it isn't, which local authority is it in? Its main road was undoubtedly bypassed by the new A338. Springbourne is somewhere else.--Holdenhurst 13:21, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is an ambiguity in my message, for which I apologise. Holdenhurst is in the Borough of Bournemouth, but is a village centred on a green and the church of St John the Evangelist at GB grid ref SZ 128 952. On a road map of Bournemouth it is directly across the A338 from the sewage works just a little north of the hospital. As such it is outside the built up area, which is what I meant . If you go to the OS site and ask for Holdenhurst that is what you will get (I did, just now.) Honest. Springbourne is the stretch of the Holdenhurst Road from the Station to the Queen's Park Hotel. The Holdenhurst Road is called that because it used to go to Holdenhurst, not because it is Holdenhurst. Sorry again. Britmax 13:48, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Stub?

[edit]

Having looked at Wikipedia Version 1.0 quality scale, I'm surprised that this article as still rated a Stub. CS46 19:38, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, it shouldn't be, nor does it have a stub template. I'll fix.--Holdenhurst 11:44, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
