Intermarriage in 1957

[edit]

The article cited the Daily News Bulletin of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency (vol. XXIV, no. 198, Oct. 16, 1957, http://pdfs.jta.org/1957/1957-10-16_198.pdf) for the statement that one out of every seven marriages in Rhodesia in 1957 was between a Jew and a Gentile. I looked at the source because this didn't make any sense to me. The Jewish population was way too small for this to be plausible. Indeed, the source itself noted the "smallness of the Jewish population." It seems to me most plausible that the denominator was not the total number of marriages but the total number of marriages involving a Jew. I changed the article to this effect. It's a best guess. — Preceding unsigned comment added by D.Holt (talkcontribs) 03:14, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
