New Page

[edit]

I had a few minutes, finally, to do some work on wiki again. I thought this page was very appropriate. Obviously a tremendous amount of expanding needs done. Hope everyone enjoys. Jcg5029 01:32, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is this page needed?

[edit]

This page has little information, and what it does have is essentially all already in the main article for The Church of Jesus Christ. Unless there is going to be way more information added to both pages, that would make the main article too long without this separate branch-off article, do we really need this page? I am posting this comment the pages for both Quorum of Twelve Apostles (The Church of Jesus Christ) and History of The Church of Jesus Christ; it applies equally to both. - Reaverdrop (talk/nl) 22:53, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure why this page was created, unless it was an attempt to have an article comparable to History of the Community of Christ and History of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I think historical information can be added to The Church of Jesus Christ and the article can be separated if and when the historical information there gets too unwieldy to include in the article about the church. Until then, this specialist article seems unncecessary. Rich Uncle Skeleton (talk) 03:18, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I would recommend you two just help improve this article. The Church of Jesus Christ does, in fact, have significant history which you are finding out. This page should be expanded and the other made much more brief. Just like the two mentioned above - no reason not to help wiki grow and include more info. Such a huge section on The Church of Jesus Christ's main page really isn't needed. It is about more than the history. Jcg5029 01:48, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
But by having this we're doing it bass ackwards—back to front, as it were. We should expand the information there, then later make this article if needs be. Having to update two at the same time is very inconvenient, and I don't think there's too much at The Church of Jesus Christ to justify a separate article yet. Copying something will only take you a few seconds. If it takes longer than a minute, contact me and I will explain how on your talk page. Jcg5029 03:40, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Lol. Oh, mercy. Time for the nomination. Rich Uncle Skeleton (talk) 04:49, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge

[edit]

Per Wikipedia:Deletion_policy#Merging:

"If two pages are duplicates or otherwise redundant, one should be merged and redirected to the other, using the most common, or more general page name. This does not require process or formal debate beforehand."

Since this page essentially reproduces what is already existent at The Church of Jesus Christ, it is redundant. I'll redirect the page there. This is, of course, without prejudice to the future of this page, which may be justified when the information there becomes unwieldy. Rich Uncle Skeleton (talk) 04:56, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
