Shouldn't the title of this article be History of the Anglo-Egyptian co-dominium ?

no, it should be "condominium"

[edit]

for the term "condominium", see http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Condominium_%28international_law%29 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.27.112.146 (talk) 21:46, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed it should be 'condominium'. Condominium is the only term used by scholars (compare a Google Scholar search for 'Sudan condominium' with one for 'Sudan "co-dominium"'). Condominium is a seventeenth-century legal term for shared sovereignty, as defined in major dictionaries, including the OED. The hyphenation 'co-dominium' is rarely used in law, with most its scholarly occurences traceable to a single oddly-worded decision on Atlantic fisheries.
The title of this page should be changed back to condominium before it becomes a source of real confusion for students. Happydemic (talk) 02:27, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What is the difference between the two Wikipedia articles on Anglo-Egyptian Sudan?

[edit]

Can anybody tell me what is the difference between this article and the article "Anglo-Egyptian Sudan?"

The introduction to the article "Anglo-Egyptian Sudan" says "This article is about the administration of the Sudan between 1899 and 1956."

But there is very little about the administration in the article "Anglo-Egyptian Sudan." It mostly seems to be about history - including quite a lot before 1899 when Anglo-Egyptian Sudan was created.

Conversely, this article, although called "History of Anglo-Egyptian Sudan," contains a reasonable amount of description of the administration of Anglo-Egyptian Sudan. SylviaStanley (talk) 13:35, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
