September 11 attacks. Re: Lieutenant Heather Penney Garcia
[edit]"September 11 attacks" part of the article reads: Four pilots were available for the mission and received authorization to get airborne in their fighter jets, among them two Hispanics, Lieutenant Colonel Marc Sasseville and Lieutenant Heather Penney Garcia.[50]
The mission was to find United Airlines Flight 93 and destroy it however they could. Since the fighter jets were absent of missiles and packed only with dummy ammunition from a recent training mission, there was only one way to do it and that was by ramming the aircraft. [51][50] Sasseville, flew his aircraft alongside the aircraft of Lt. Penney Garcia. According to Penney Garcia, Sasseville toldd her: "We don’t train to bring down airliners. If you just hit the engine, it could still glide and you could guide it to a target". He also told her that he would take out the cockpit and that she should take the tail.[51][50] The fighter jets passed over the ravaged Pentagon building, however it wasn’t until hours later that they would find out that United 93 had already gone down in a field outside Shanksville, Pennsylvania, killing all 44 people aboard including the 4 hijackers.
It refers to "Lieutenant Heather Penney Garcia" which seems incorrect. At the time of her involvement she was Lieutenant Heather Penney. She later married and became Heather Penney Garcia. As of Sept 08 2011 she was a Major. The article as written makes it sound like she also is Hispanic which would be inaccurate.
"told" (toldd) is incorrectly spelled at one point, minor typo
I'm not sure what the correct wording would be to correct this part of the article so I'm just mentioning the inaccuracy. [1]
- I believe that your observations have been made in "good-faith" therefore, I will proceed to make the corrections in the article. Tony the Marine (talk) 20:20, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

@Marine 69-71: - about the reason you removed my bio info added yesterday...and a suggestion
[edit]{{ping|Marine 69-71}: I hope this reaches you because YOUR talk page is locked. :-)
You removed my content because you said: "This is not the forum to write persons bio. A short notice with cited references which are reliable will do. An individual bio. can be written on a separate page like those in this article who have wikilinks."
Yet...what do you call THIS content just above where I added mine? Antonio Maldonado does NOT have a separate page. It's just all there... like mine... no separate page. :-)
In April 1984, Antonio Maldonado was transferred to K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base in Michigan. During the years which he spent there (1984–1987) he assumed various leadership positions: Deputy Commander for Operations (1984), 410th Bombardment Wing; Vice Commander (September 1984)and Commander(July 1985). While commanding the 410th, General Maldonado won numerous top Air Force awards including the coveted Omaha Trophy (best combat Wing) and the 390th Bombardment Group Memorial Trophy (best Wing Commander). In May 1987, Maldonado was reassigned once more to the Pentagon where he served as Chief, Strategic Operations Division, Operations Directorate, Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. In June 1988 he became Deputy Director for Operations, National Military Command Center, the Pentagon. On September 1 of that same year, he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General.[47] In July 1989, Maldonado was named Chief, U.S. Office of Defense Cooperation, Madrid, Spain, becoming the senior Department of Defense representative to that country. His responsibilities included providing overall direction to U.S. elements in Spain on status of forces, security assistance programs and other defense and base agreement matters. He also provided overall coordination for US offensive operations out of Spain during the 1991 Persian Gulf War.[47] Brigadier General Maldonado retired from the United States Air Force on September 1, 1991 with more than 4,000 hours of flight, after 27 years of service of active duty service.
Instead of removing my entire entry (not cool since CLEARLY we need MORE WOMEN represented on this page, not less!) let me suggest this: which 229 words - the length of the Maldonado biography - would you suggest I KEEP of my unique contribution? I'd be happy to SHORTEN it. Thank you.
GracielaT-S (talk) 00:33, 20 August 2020 (UTC)Graciela!
- Hello Garciela, it is nice to hear from you. Antonio Maldonado has his own individual bio. page which I wrote. I agree with you that we need MORE WOMEN represented on this page. On this particular page I suggest that only the basic information about your experience in the USAF be posted with the citation of verifiable reliable sources. Note: Websites such as Wikipedia, IMDb, You Tube, Facebook, MySpace and personal websites which anyone can edit are not considered reliable verifiable sources per Wikipedia policy. Your personal bio. can be written separately such is the case of Maldonado and the otheer bios. I've authored. I have written hundreds of articles here related to the contributions made by Puerto Ricans. Here are two which I hope you enjoy: History of women in Puerto Rico and Puerto Rican women in the military. If I can be of any help or guidance, do not hesitate to let me know. - By the way Graciela, I went back to your posting and made some minor fixes in accordance to Wiki policy. I must say you are an amazing woman and role model who makes us Hispanics proud. Tony the Marine (talk) 06:45, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
