Fair use rationale for Image:Goranger.png

[edit]

Image:Goranger.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Go Ranger! series

[edit]

There was parody made by Matsumoto Hitoshi but I do not see any references —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.106.79.132 (talk) 20:33, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Moving some info to lists

[edit]

Is there any possibility that we could move some of this information to other pages? For instances, could we make an List of Episodes in Himitsu Sentai Gorenger article? I am concerned with the detail of information on this page, and am trying to figure out viable ways to clean it up. Other suggestions would be appreciated. I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 00:10, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting off the content would be good, but no one has yet to split off all of the character-only content off onto character lists for these older programs yet. It is however highly unnecessary to provide an exact play-by-play for every MOTW appearance.—Ryulong (竜龙) 08:42, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proper title translation?

[edit]

I've seen people argue that Gorenger looks stupid, and I've never seen this confirmed, but I have an idea. Could it be that Gorenger isn't a misspelling of Goranger but rather the word Goren plus ger as in Boukenger is Bouken + ger? 69.132.11.135 (talk) 04:32, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The official translation is "Five Rangers", but the official transliteration of ゴレンジャー is "Gorenger", which is prevalent in all Japanese source material. Because there are no reliable sources that discuss this and refer to it as "Goranger", we have nothing to support that version of the title. Also, all of the subsequent series with "レンジャー" in the title are transliterated as "-ranger". "Gorenger" is an outlier that is supported by reliable sources.—Ryulong (竜龙) 07:52, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have any examples to prove this? here's some media that supports the "Goranger" spelling: http://www.weloveshopping.com/template/tem/layout_showpic.php?url=sentaiclub/SC078.jpg http://www.weloveshopping.com/template/tem/layout_showpic.php?url=sentaiclub/SC078.jpg24.18.120.231 (talk) 09:44, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That appears to have come out some time ago before Toei decided to go with "Gorenger", which is the far more prevalent spelling in Japan nowadays (see this), but "Gorenger" appears on mecha in the show and the toys, so we go with that.—Ryulong (琉竜) 09:58, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It is pretty clear that there has been a use of dual meaning of terms to used and use of English words or phonetic translations of English words into Japanese katakana. Go for example having the obvious active verb meaning in English, but meaning 5 (five) in Japanese. We see the same term related to the series Speed Racer; note the car is called the Mach 5 and the theme song includes "Go, Speed Racer. Go!". I will not say that there isn't some Japanese hidden meaning behind "renger", but from the translation used for the title it is pretty clear that the "renger" was meant as "ranger". When to translate a word from one language to another and then back again, it usually turns out sounding different than the word from which it originates. Often times in these series, the Go or 5 (five) is also related to 5 (five) elements or elemental characteristics of the main characters.WereTech (talk) 00:34, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but that still does not change the fact that "GORENGER" appears in all materials regarding the series, and even when shown with newer properties whose names use "Ranger".—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 09:06, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Merger

[edit]

I am proposing that the Black Cross Army page be merged into this page. The BCA page clearly lacks notability on its own, so it's either merge or delete. Thoughts? JoelWhy?(talk) 18:19, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm surprised it was ever split off in the first place. I've just gone ahead and done it.—Ryulong (竜龙) 22:26, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 29 January 2015

[edit]

Ok, I have to mention, why is this protected? This makes no sense as there's quite a few errors that need to be fixxed and sourced propery. This request is just for some grammatical cleaning though. The last sentence under super sentai is a complete mess and needs to be rewritten. It appears to have been edited by another editor in the past changing the sentence entirely and leaving it messy. "In the 1995 series Ohranger that Gorenger and J.A.K.Q. were included as the first two series." Just plan on fixing that. Changing it to "Upon release of the 1995 series Ohranger, Gorenger and J.A.K.Q. were recognized as the first two seasons of the Super Sentai series" FlossumPossum (talk) 04:39, 29 January 2015 (UTC) FlossumPossum (talk) 04:39, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please provide sources for your proposed edits. Hipocrite (talk) 04:42, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Himitsu_Sentai_Gorenger&diff=641050394&oldid=640986393 AmIDointhisrite? It was never originally sourced, my proposed edit was just restoring it to a more correct version of what was there before. What is was changed from was not grammatically correct either, and it was also not sourced. You could delete the entire sentence. Either way the sentence should be fixxed or removed as it is literal gibberish atm. Can leave it to the editors who originally added that and the one who turned it into the jumbled mess it is now to source and add it(with sources) again later. It was never sourced properly on the article to begin with. FlossumPossum (talk) 05:19, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Please provide Reliable Sources for all of your proposed changes. Hipocrite (talk) 05:21, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
There's two options of course and I can work on sourcing both. Removal: The english language, the sentence is gibberish as it stands with no meaning.
To change it to the suggestion: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Super_Sentai#cite_note-McCarterInterview-1 is used by Super_Sentai but the link is no longer valid. The main super sentai article actually states this information as fact as well. https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/File:Super_sentai_history_(English).png still exists as their lone connection which shows they are indeed connected but doesn't list the date this was all added and the interview no longer exists as an external link. They were made canon as part of the series in 1995 by Chouriki Sentai Ohranger as the 20th anniversary series though, that I know but can't find any English sources I think would be considered reliable sources other than the TV show itself. In light of that I'd perhaps recommend removing the sentence for being gibberish unless I can just bring the information over from the main Super_Sentai article itself?FlossumPossum (talk) 05:35, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dude. He just wants to fix the sentence. He's not adding information. Fixing a sentence does not equal adding baseless information.--OriginPoke 07:26, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I put it back to no myself because I didn't realise I could now edit the page. I thought that the proposed change was supposed to be made by the person responding. They didn't respond saying I could and only changed it to 'yes'. I'm new so I don't know what I'm doing so I put it back to no because I thought they closed it prematurely. It's all good, and you already fixxed it! Thank you very much. FlossumPossum (talk) 07:49, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I can't understand half of the shit on the article, and the diff provided was less than clear. If someone could explain the request clearly, perhaps something like:

Before it looked like this

After it looks like this

I'd be able to evaluate. Hipocrite (talk) 19:47, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It's already been changed by OriginPoke. FlossumPossum (talk) 20:07, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Pretty clear to me.--OriginPoke 04:01, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
