"Southwestern University" here does not refer to "Southwestern University" in "Georgetown, Texas, USA". This should be unlinked until a page for that school is created. Or we could link to a list of Philippine schools Education_in_the_Philippines but that article is not written yet, even though it is linked from Cebuano_people. The Page Cebuano_people has "Southwestern University" int he text but only in passing under Cebuano_people#Dance Andrew Powell 19:41, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, User:Maxschmelling had edited the hereunder edit of mine, allegeing COI, or alleged conflict of interest. The rules provides on this: What is a conflict of interest?[1] and How to avoid COI edits[2]. Even if I do not have any conflict of interest regarding the edits hereunder, in view of the fact, that the links are positive and in favor of Hilario Davide, Jr., I decide to use Wiki rule on this: "Action - Those who feel the need to make controversial edits, in spite of a real or perceived conflict of interest, are strongly encouraged to submit proposed edits for review on the article's talk page along with a {{Request edit}} tag to attract users to review the edit, or to file a request for comment." Hence, I submit this proposed edit here for discussion:

It seems to me pretty clear that there is conflict of interest. Floro added to this page that a disbarrment lawsuit that he personally brought against Davide was dismissed for lack of merit. So why is the lawsuit relevant to Davide? (Did I mention that it was dismissed for lack of merit?--that doesn't sound notable to me.) Its only relevance is as a way for Floro to draw attention to himself and to his complaints against Davide and the other defendents he named. Furthermore the section on "health" is a lot like other health sections that Floro has added to articles about his enemies. See, for example, Miriam Defensor Santiago [3][4][5] (is it any coincidence that Floro also mentions her in this edit for the Davide Page?), Alfredo Benipayo [6] (also mentioned here), and Rene Saguisag. Floro alleges that he predicted the misfortunes of these people and exaggerates them in what seems to me to be an attempt to vindicate himself. There are more examples, but I don't have the time to search them all out right now. maxsch (talk) 21:04, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Contradiction

[edit]

Wikipedia:Conflict of interest is defined per its neutral and protective policy, thusly: "This page documents an English Wikipedia behavioral guideline. It is a generally accepted standard that editors should follow, though it should be treated with common sense and the occasional exception. This page in a nutshell: Do not edit Wikipedia to promote your own interests, or those of other individuals, companies, or groups, unless you are certain that the interests of Wikipedia remain paramount."

Now, do my edits fall into this? Of course not. Why? 2 reasons: a) The surgery was successful and positive; b) the disbarment cases were all dismissed and Davide won; besides, it was not only my disbarment but Pamatong's too were added.
Second. hy are disbarment and health sections important? (as all editors here, do add these important sections in all Senators, Presidents, actors, etc. articles, for balance and neutrality: 3 reasons - a) The article as it is now, is confusing, for it states that Davide is the incumbent UN representative. He is not: That is not a legal fact. Since Davide was twice by-passed when he was appointed on sessions going on, and he was not able to hold office. Now, on 2007, he was appointed ad interim, meaning - when Congress was not in session, so he could and now holds office until Congress adjourns. Since Congress adjourned, Davide is no longer in office until the President appoints him again ad interim. Congress resumes July 23. The disbarments filed and dismissed are favorable to him and paved the way for his confirmation.
Am I selling a product, am I advertising myself? Not at all, since the links showed that I lost and he won. Wikipedia COI cannot apply and cannot be twisted by Max as he daily edits ONLY MY CONTRIBUTIONS. Max uses his account only to monitor, edit, revert and concentrate my daily edits. This is the saddest day for Wikipedia. It is anathema to the ethics of respect between Wiki editors. Max does daily fishing expeditions to microscopically examine for reverting all my edits. It is clear badge of fraud and paves the way for Blocking of account.[7]--Florentino floro (talk) 07:45, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not done The edit proposed by User:Florentino floro is not of benefit to Wikipedia or to the subject of this article. It may be argued that Mr. Floro has no conflict of interest per se, even though anyone who files a lawsuit against an individual should be presumed to have an interest in that individual (although of course not in any positive sense). Regardless of whether COI guidelines apply, the suggested material, if included, would have the sole effect of associating controversy with the subject of the article. The correct place to document failed lawsuits by Mr. Floro, if anywhere, would be on Mr. Floro's own page. Cases that are dismissed without merit reflect only upon those who file them. Controversies

[edit]

Davide is the current Philippine representative to the UN in New York, who was issued ad interim appointments by Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, on 2006 and 2007. On December 6, 2006, the Philippine Senate CoA committee on foreign affairs chaired by Miriam Santiago deferred the confirmation of the appointment of Davide, due to vehement oppositions by Jinggoy Estrada, Senator Francisco Tatad, Joseph Estrada’s lawyer Alan Paguia, oppositors Aurelio Arienda and complainant Florentino Floro, Jr. Tatad and Paguia cited Section 23 of Republic Act 7157 ("Foreign Service Act of 1991") which prohibits the appointment of a person over 65 years old as an ambassador. Accodingly, Davide was by-passed, that is, he failed to be confirmed but was issued an ad interim appointment (during Congress' recess).[1]

Also, on January, 2007, the Supreme Court of the Philippines dismissed with finality the August 30, 2006 first Disbarment administrative suit filed by Floro against Davide, Jr., Bernardo P. Pardo, Alfredo Benipayo, Mario Ongkiko and other top officials of the Court (Min. Res., Floro, Jr. v. Chief Justice Davide, et al., AC No. 7324, December 11, 2006).[2][3]

On January 25, 2007 Supreme Court Justice Cancio Garcia dismissed for lack of merit the disbarment case against Davide, Jr. by "The International Militia of People against Corruption and Terrorism" through losing 2004 presidentiable Atty. Elly Velez Pamatong (Pamatong v. Chief Justice Davide, Jr., AC No. 7197, January 23, 2007).[4]

Personal life

[edit]

Jun, as many call him, is married to Virginia Jimenea Perez. They have five children, namely: Hilario III (an incumbent city councilor in Cebu City), Joseph Bryan Hilary, Sheryl Ann, Noreen, and Delster Emmanuel.

Health

[edit]

On 16 July, 2002, Davide underwent a successful Carotid surgery by Dr. Jorge Garcia, who operated Fidel Ramos in 1997. The procedure Carotid endarterectomy, was used to remove Atherosclerotic plaque from the wall of his carotid artery to prevent Transient ischemic attack (TIAs) or ischemic stroke)[8][1][2]--Florentino floro (talk) 07:49, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest

[edit]

It's a conflict of interest to be writing on anything you were ever deeply involved in. Floro, please refrain from editing on this matter. TheCoffee (talk) 08:42, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

With all due respect, when Max reverted my edits, I timely submitted the template RFC, and even asked Efe to comment. The above reasons I submitted are of course, subject to further comments. I read the rules on COI, and it provided an avenue for RFC, as way to ask editors' views on the issue of "Whether the submitted hereunder edit of mine could be retained and edited by others, or should not be added for neutrality or COI. Such is the policy and rule on COI. Further, I invited User:Efe to file comment and he did not, but edited the article on other matter. --Florentino floro (talk) 09:00, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe Floro and the other editor have to stop editing for now. --Efe (talk) 08:51, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please enlighten me on the specific rule of Wiki and its policies, on this. And please, if you may, course this opinion of yours to my adopting parent Diligent Terrier. Further, more, there is no conclusion yet on the matter of[9]. It behooves, that since my parent is a former administrator and is more erudite on the rules and policies of Wiki than myself, please, respect my edits, and if have any comment, then amend or edit the same. It is not fair that I had spent 8 hours daily contributing good edits to Wiki, to say "perhaps", please give me due respect as I respect you as editor. --Florentino floro (talk) 09:00, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
