Hard time
[edit]- I am having a hard time finding information for this page in English. The page needs more information on the character names and voice over actors in Japanese. There is plenty of information in French, German, Italian on the web (probably because this series was popular in those countries), but I do not understand any of it. Can any body help me find information about the series in Japanese and English.Angel,Isaac 02:35, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
Response
[edit]- Have you tried using Babel Fish? It can translate those Euro languages into something that you can mostly understand. Don't try this with Japanese though. Understanding a Japanese Babel Fish translation is an excercise in futility.--SeizureDog 06:47, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for telling me about babelfish.Angel,Isaac 20:52, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Help
[edit]- I worked really hard on this page so please let me know about any information that you have that you think it might be useful for this page. And if there is anything you feel should be removed please write something on the dicussion page explaining why the edit was done so that it is not seen as vadalism. Thanks.Angel,Isaac 22:56, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- I see that you have worked away at this article. You should decide on what you are going to name your sub articles. This article is currently going by the Japanese name, Hikari no Densetsu, but the two subpages are using List of Legend of Light episodes and Legend of Light characters (which should really be called List of Legend of Light characters). See the inconsistency? --Squilibob 13:05, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
Response
[edit]- I often see other pages to get ideas of how to edit, when it comes to the problem with the list of legend of light titles, the reason why I called it legend of light characters instead of list of legend of light characters was because I noticed that in the page of Inuyasha, Maison Ikkoku, and Urusei Yatsura they were called: inuyasha characters, maison ikakou characters, and uresei yatsura characters so I thought it was supposed to be that way.Angel,Isaac 14:56, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
- I see your point. I couldn't find any such page on Maison Ikkoku but I believe that the other two articles are incorrectly named. What about Hikari no Densetsu vs Legend of Light. Why not use List of Hikari no Densetsu characters and List of Hikari no Densetsu episodes? --Squilibob 23:25, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
Response
[edit]Well, I am not really sure since I said to myself "this the English version of wikipedia so I might as well make everything in english as possible", so you could say that it would be a good idea to keep everything in the English language as much as possible even translating the names of the pages about the mangas in English for better understading for who ever is searching on wikipedia for it, they have done it before. For example: Hana yori dango which literally means "boys before flowers" was changed to Boys over Flowers and that is the title of the article page for manga series. But them again I noticed that I can time type Hana yori dango or boys over flowers and get the same article page of that manga series. I do not know how to do that but if it is possible let me know. You could argue that the name "Hikari no Densetsu" would not make any sense for the average english speaker who is intersted in manga so that it is why every time they send a manga or anime series from japan to the US they change or translated the name so that it would make sense to us. The other day was buy comics and noticed that the Maison Ikkoku series was changed to "a student affair" (I am not sure why they did not change Inuyasha to "dog demon," probably because the name Inuyasha sounds good and gives more character to the manga and anime series). Anyway I am not really sure what to do, I noticed also that this happens in novels too: I can type "like water for chocolate or Como agua para chocolate" and get the same page. Let me know what you think.Angel,Isaac 04:08, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Response
[edit]- If you want to use Legend of Light then that is fine. You need to rename this page from Hikari no Densetsu to Legend of Light. The way you would do that is to paste this line at the top of the page WP:RM#Uncontroversial_proposals with your reason in place of "Reason for move":
{{subst:WP:RM2|Hikari no Densetsu|Legend of Light|"Reason for move"}}
- If you don't want to rename the article then that is fine, but as you say, you want to use the English name so as to not cause confusion. --Squilibob 06:49, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Response
[edit]- I was not the one that started this page, I just found it one day and began to add a lot of information. I think it owuld be more considerate of me to ask the person who started it what to do with it. There a many other pages that were started with the original Japanese page. So I gonna have to think about that, besides you can type legend of light already and get this page(just make sure to type it like this: Legend of Light or it will not appearAngel,Isaac 01:21, 21 December 2006 (UTC).
Too many images
[edit]13 images is really pushing fair use policy, which states that unfree images should be used as little as possible. Also, no article should have so many images that they flank the text. Try to bring the number of images down.--SeizureDog 02:28, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
Response
[edit]- I have remove several pictures of the characters and started it on their own page of characters, I hope that helps.Angel,Isaac 13:06, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
- The images are still too cluttered. At no point should images have to flank the article.--SeizureDog 18:21, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
- I have spread the pictures through page, In the future I will add more written material so it will not look cluttered.Angel,Isaac 16:51, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]I just want to take some time to thank all of you wikipedians who have helped me with this page. Over the last couple of months I have been focusing my energies on bringing this manga/anime page the ranks, I have work hard finding information from websites that are not even in English to find the information the page needs when it comes to plot, characters, music etc.. And I just want to thanks those wikipedians who have helped find information and contributes to the page by helping with the grammar and other areas of this page. ThanksAngel,Isaac 04:06, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

- N/A
AKA: Diana Groicheva (Italian Dub, and manga), Diliana Gueorguiva (French Dub, Manga version), n/a (Spanish Dub), n/a (German Dub, manga version). She is the grand champion of the world of rhythmic gymnastics from Bulgaria. She is also Hikari's idol (Hikari dreams of becoming like her) who she admires and respects greatly. She has never been beaten and is seemeds as force to be reckond with when it comes to competition, any other major competitor who has competed against has fail to take away the olympic medal from her for the past couple of olympic competitions she has competed in and is seem as an icon in the sport. She incarnates the true spirit of rhythmic gymnastics, with her beauty, grace, elegance, energy, difficulty and complexity of her routines in her performances. And is because of all these reasons why Hikari admires her very much. Hikari dreams of been just like her in terms of beauty, grace, elegance, energy, and performance eventhough she knows that she has a very small chances of ever achieving this. In the series she has a very small, but noticesable role due to her been Hikari's idol. In the series she causes a huge shock when she withdraws from competition at the eleventh hour(which is never explained in in the series!). This fuels Hikari's desire to be like her even more. The former world champion is very surprised by the talent of Cynthia, at the time of this ultimate competition (at one point even offers her to come with her to Bulgaria to train with her).
- N/A
AKA: Hilary's sister (Italian Dub, and manga), Michelle Duval (French Dub, Manga version), n/a (Spanish Dub), n/a (German Dub, manga version). She is Hikari's older sister and is a very important person in Hikari's life. As an onlder sister she is very understating of Hikari. She has all the qualities of an older: time tested and mature because of this, wise when it comes to making serious decisions, and ready to include her sister Hikari in her concerns or ideas/understand Hikari's worries and concerns and ideas. And is quickly to complement and support Hikari during her performances. At the end of the series it is discovered that she has a boy friend: Arnaud.
Voiced: Daniela Fava (Italian Dub), Marie-Christine Robert (french),
- N/A
AKA: n/a (Italian Dub, and manga), Alas Duval? (French Dub, Manga version), n/a (Spanish Dub), n/a (German Dub, manga version). She is Hikari's mother. She the stereotypical supportive mother who supports Hikari with all her might to point that it is even scary at times. She becomes hyper active and paranoid during her Hikaris competitions. She is quick to get up from her seat and scream in a supportive way for her daughter. And while a bit dramatic while wachting Hikari perform her routines, she is very supportive of her daughter more than any other family member besides her older daughter.
voiced by: Colette Venhard (french), Rossana Bassani (Italian), (German) Isabella Grothe.
- N/A
AKA: n/a (Italian Dub, and manga), Thomas Duval (French Dub, Manga version), n/a (Spanish Dub), n/a (German Dub, manga version). He is the father of Hikari and her older sister and the husband of Hikari's mother. Very little is known of him in both the anime and manga series. He is often seen smoking a cigar and reading the newspaper in the early morning hours of the day. He does not seem to be very concerned about the dreams of Hikari as a gymnast, but he expresses a vague sense of pride for her daughter when he sees his photograph in the newspaper after seeming her daughter winning a competion. Voiced:Jean-Pierre Denys (french).
- N/A
AKA: n/a (Italian Dub, and manga), Miss Violette (French Dub, Manga version), n/a (Spanish Dub), n/a (German Dub, manga version). Is one of the gymnastic trainers of Hikari and Shiina. She is very strict, but cares very deeply about her stundents. She is very supportive of her students and knows that with hard work they can become champions.
- N/A
AKA: n/a (Italian Dub, and manga), The three puppets (French Dub, Manga version), n/a (Spanish Dub), n/a (German Dub, manga version). This three characters are the comrades of Mao. They are band members of Mao's band: Mr. D eversinces they were persuade by him to form the band in the first place. They very histerical characters (espicially when they are seen running after Maria which they enjoy a very good friendship with her)that are often used for comic relief in the series). Eventhough they give Maria a lot of attetion, they tend to be very attentive with anything that moves that does not have a Y chromose. They are not womanizers as they may seem, but they like to laugh while having fun. This are some of the characters that do not have a specific clean character development (espcially since they are always seen together and have little lines in their appearances. It has been said by many fans of the anime that They are especially there to recall us how much Mao isolates himself or refuses to make compromises with the others around him.
- N/A
AKA: n/a (Italian Dub, and manga), Eddie (French Dub, Manga version), n/a (Spanish Dub), n/a (German Dub, manga version). He is one the several antagonists in the series and this can be understood by seeing him (he is always found wearing dark glasses with an evil smile on his face and near dark places cover slightly by shadows). In the series he tries to convince Mao to sign for a record deal after he sees him perfom, but only to take advantage of Mao and the musical act Mr. D. Afterwards he tries to destroy the reputation of Mao's band in other to make money out of it.Eddie represents the coldness of the industry of the disc, and the selfishness of the man who thinks only of the money. He does not hesitate to fake the contest of the young hopes for low reasons marketing. Useless to specify that this point is not without aggravating our artist. Eddie then will make worst lownesses to adapt this so promising singer, not hesitating to ruin the reputation of the group for that.
- N/A
AKA: n/a (Italian Dub, and manga), Arnaud (French Dub, Manga version), n/a (Spanish Dub), n/a (German Dub, manga version). He is the boy friend of Michelle! He is a very interesting character in the series due to ways that he thinks about life and things in general. His vision of the world is governed by points firmly anchored in its reasoning. In the series he helps Mao and his band Mr. D passes by a total recasting of the group according to his own aesthetic criteria. The heaviness of its remarks, at the moment when it gives Mao to his place after hearing him sing, does not make us however not forget the disproportionate success of the group which, if it is certainly based on the charisma of his leader, would not have been so vast without some concepts of the music that the group plays. He is well mannered well spoken and always tries to do what is best based on his criteria.
- N/A
AKA: Dora and Maria (Italian Dub, and manga), Catherine and Gilded (French Dub, Manga version), n/a (Spanish Dub), n/a (German Dub, manga version). They are two more other female gymnasts who like Hikari and all other competitors dream of becoming great gymnasts. They considered characters that were made to make series look better and to help bring the enviroment of gymnastic competition in the story. Like The three puppets They are often seen together in both anime and manga series.
Please feel free to send me a message if you find something about this characters so that I can finnish the page of characters for this anime series. Thank you.Angel,Isaac 13:29, 29 December 2006 (UTC) Retrieved from "http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Angel%2CIsaac"

Survey - in support of the move
[edit]Survey - in opposition to the move
[edit]- Oppose. Unlicensed in English, has no official English name, and has several translated titles mentioned on the article page itself. I'm also confused as to why the personal name would be translated. Rather, I'd like to see the associated pages moved to "Hikari no Densetsu" titles for consistency. Dekimasu 06:24, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose: I contest this move. The title "Legend of Light" is an unofficial translation. It is policy to use romaji titles when no official translation has been given. List of Legend of Light characters should instead be moved to List of Hikari no Densetsu characters--SeizureDog 07:47, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

- Oppose — per above. "Legend of Light" is not official, meaning that nobody would know what it is. Therefore "Hikari no Densetsu" is a better name. To be fair, List of Legend of Light characters should instead be moved to List of Hikari no Densetsu characters, as suggested by SeizureDog above.--Endroit 17:04, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
- There is also List of Legend of Light episodes. Dekimasu 12:20, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- I support moving List of Legend of Light episodes → List of Hikari no Densetsu episodes as well, and likewise for any other "Legend of Light" variations there may be out there.--Endroit 17:17, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- There is also List of Legend of Light episodes. Dekimasu 12:20, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- For:: I agree with the comments metioned above, I started the pages of Hikari no Densetsu that talk about the episodes and characters, I previously had the pages by the names List of Hikari no Densetsu episodes and List of Hikari no Densetsu characters but due to an accident I ended up creating four pages with different names. I had :List of Hikari no Densetsu episodes, List of Hikari no Densetsu characters, List of Legend of Light episodes and List of Legend of Light characters. I tried to correct the problem but due to my lack of editing knowledge at the time I did not know what to do. Later another editor told me what to do and since List of Legend of Light episodes and List of Legend of Light characters had more information than List of Hikari no Densetsu episodes, and List of Hikari no Densetsu characters I decided to keep them and erase the others. So asked a higher level editor to erase them for me. I will change the names soon, but first I would like to tell the editor that helped me erase the other pages about the name change so that he does not erase them by mistake.Angel,Isaac 18:48, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Inconsistent spelling - which ones are correct
[edit]Hikari no Densetsu page
- First paragraph says
"Hikari no Densetsu (光の伝説, Hikari no Densetsu?) is an anime and manga series by Izumi Aso about a girl named Hikari Kamijou" Shouldn't that be "Hikari Uenaga?"
- "Plot" section uses following spellings:
Hikari Uenaga
Takaaki Ooishi
Hazuki Shiina
- "Japanese voice actors" section spellings:
Yoshiaki Ooishi (Given name spelled "Takaaki" in plot? Different character?)
Bazuki Shiina (Given name spelled "Hakuki" in plot? Different character?)
- Spanish Voice Actors
Takaaki Oiishi (Surname spelled Ooishi in plot?)
- Italian Voice Actors
Takaaki Oiishi (Surname spelled Ooishi in plot?)
- German Voice Actors
Takaaki Oiishi (Surname spelled Ooishi in plot?)
List of Hikari no Densetsu characters page
- Takaaki Oiishi (Surname spelled Ooishi in other paragraphs??)
So in summary my questions are:
- Is the character spelled: "Hikari Kamijou" or "Hikari Uenaga"?
- Is the character spelled: "Takaaki Ooishi", "Takaaki Oiishi", or "Yoshiaki Ooishi"?
- Is the character spelled: "Hazuki Shiina" or "Bazuki Shiina"?
Regards, 202.63.40.179 17:10, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
- I believe all are correct, I think the different names are based on the idea that in different versions of the anime the names were written that way. If you go to the references these names will appear.Angel,Isaac 17:48, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
- I will see what I can do to correct this name mix-up in the next couple of days. See Ya!Angel,Isaac 21:26, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Voice actor section
[edit]The voice actor section contains info that is already on the List_of_Hikari_no_Densetsu_characters. I would delete the section in this article, and just stick to the info on the list. The background info on the voice actors doesn't belong here either, it should go on the voice actor's page. Ninja neko 20:06, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- I originally intended for the voice over list of actors for the Legend of Light page to be on the List_of_Hikari_no_Densetsu_characters list, but my work kept been deleted because I another wikipedian who thought that they were too many unncessesary characters or because I did not know their original Japanese names (in some situacions I only knew their names and voice actors from only the German or French version, but did know who they were and what exact role they had on the anime or manga) and I really did not wanted the information that I had go to waste because they might shutdown the website from which I got it from since there is little information about the anime and manga series on the internet. So I decided to put in the voice cast list main page so others could see it maybe help me complete the list since they are incomplete because there is little information of the series in the internet.
- I asked on the discussion page of Hikari no Densetsu for members to help me find the original names of the characters that I mentioned so that could complete list, but I never got any response. So I am hoping that some one will see the voice acting list on the page and help me finish it. So that I can finnish the character page. And the small amount of info about the voice actors was mainly to give more info about the production of anime and because some of the voice actors were more involved in the production of the anime than others.Angel,Isaac 02:51, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
Monte Carlo
[edit]I noticed that in youtube you can see the french version of the intro of hikari, some have the logo of monte carlo does anybody know if the series was ever broadcast in that country?Angel,Isaac 18:12, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
