Doesn't "Hijokaidan" mean "Stairway To Heaven"? Some Led Zeppelin reference maybe? Simple online translations say "Heavenly Staircase", could be different; I wonder how the Led Zeppelin song is written in kanji on the Obi to their Japanese releases, anyone know? Nagelfar 03:54, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

非常階段 (hijokaidan) is fire escape or a type of stairway used only in emergency such as fire (非常 (hijo) is probably short form of 非常事態 (hijo-jitai), which means emergency; 階段 (kaidan) is stariway) [1]. Led Zeppelin's "Stairway To Heaven" is translated as "天国への階段" (tengoku e no kaidan) [2] where 天国 (tengoku) is heaven. I don't know whether the band was named after the song but perhaps it wasn't... - marsian 02:03, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Since the spelling is completely different, and that was my only lead or thought of association, it appears there must be no connection. Thanks Nagelfar 05:10, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually I don't know where I got "heavenly" now, babelfish says 'Extraordinary stairway', something must have been completely off. Good to know about the "emergency" word element though, maybe it was good of me to ask regardless ;-) Nagelfar 05:15, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
