Usage of cut content in Lore section?
[edit]My thanks goes out to @ComradeCheekiBreeki for editing the lore page much better than my initial infodump some months back, (As well as the trimming edit some time ago), it looks much more professional now, however, I've noticed that some cut / non canon content has been used such as for instance, Daud's return and the endgame qoda room, the latter of which I know for sure hasn't been in any published version of the game as a playable event / content, just leftovers in the files. I'd like to point out this game has a wealth of cut content such as worms left in official release files but unused. Are we assuming all game files is canon for this wiki page going forwards? - I had similar thoughts; While it's very substantial and detailed, I'm worried that the lore section is maybe too long compared to the gameplay/reception (which should be the focus of a video game Wikipedia article). There is a lack of sources to support the lore section as well. Nitty gritty details of the lore and plot are probably best left to a fandom wikia than Wikipedia. My personal opinion is that things should be trimmed down to what is most relevant and what can be backed up by official sources/notable coverage. --LatakiaHill (talk) 15:03, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
- @LatakiaHill Thanks both for the feedback! I agree that the current setting and plot sections probably have too much content, but I prefer to write too much and pare it down rather than write too little and have to build up. I was also thinking about redoing the gameplay section à la my Pathologic 2 edits, as it leaves out some important stuff and only briefly covers it currently.
- In regards to the cut content, the last time I played HighFleet all the way through was right after it came out and so much changed since then that I decided to use the game files to see if I missed anything. I tried to avoid obviously cut content (such as the aforementioned worms and some NPC encounters), but I'm sure some of it slipped through. If any of it is cut content, it could be moved to some sort of "Development" section later and removed in the plot section for the time being. With the qoda on the reactor, though, it was in the plot summary before so I decided to keep it. If someone could corroborate the game ending that would be great. In the meantime I will remove the more marginal stuff. ComradeCheekiBreeki (talk) 15:42, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
