Suggested Improvements and Tentative Workplan

[edit]

The organization of this article could be improved; some sections consist of only a couple sentences and could be expanded upon and do not contain citations. It also uses gendered language.

We will reorganize the article into different major sections for different types of risk factors. We will also break down the Conditions of Pregnancy section into different subheadings. We intent to add more details in each of the subsections about risk factors, their mechanisms, and evidence-based statements with citations to credible sources. We will also create an Infobox.

Add sections on: Interventions, prognosis, images. We will remove gendered language (ex. maternal carrier --> gestational carrier); any information that is erroneous or not cited in the literature; redundant information between sections. We will augment the current text in the article by using easily understandable language that does not compromise the scientific facts; add hyperlinks to other websites and well-edited wikipedia pages. We will decrease coverage of any specific medical advice.

Here is our intended new structure and different section titles:

Introduction

Risk factors:

  • Intro to risk factors
  • Gestational parent risk factors
  • Fetal related risk factors
  • Pregnancy related risk factors

Management:

Infobox:

Possible other sections:

  • Outlook
  • Epi
  • Society and culture

Let us know if you have any thoughts or other suggested modifications. Thank you! Kedrosolan (talk) 17:19, 30 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Add more citations

[edit]

Consider adding more citations throughout, even if this involves citing the same sources several times throughout the article. Factprotector (talk) 18:32, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Causes of High Risk Pregnancy

[edit]

the new organization is helpful, the first section needs some more citations which I am sure you are already aware. An image or two would be nice jst to add more visual interest although I understand these are difficult to find. You could also utilize links to other wikipedia pages for the more technical terms rather than deep diving into any given one. AdriaBowles (talk) 18:57, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction/Abstract section

[edit]

Great revisions to the article. I'd recommend adding to the introduction/abstract section, which normally contains a slimmed down version of the whole article. So, adding short blurbs about causes, lifestyle factors, management, etc.

Plans For Addition

[edit]

I am working on collecting sources for a section on the healthcare professionals specifically trained to handle high risk pregnancies. Specifically, I will be adding Maternal Fetal Medicine Physicians and Complex Family Planning Physicians within OB/GYN.

Secondly, I want to expand the list of high risk considerations and possibly revise/add to a few, (ie the twin pregnancy).

Please let me know if you have any further suggestions for additional modifications, or not anything in my work that needs modification. Care will be taken about gendered language as is mentioned in a prior comment.

Peer Review of the Current Status of the Wiki Page

[edit]

Great page!

Are there any associations between autism and old age? Muskuloskeletal issues? Precordial catch syndrome? Are any of these under the umbrella of fgr?

Is the young age because of lack of maternal care?

Have you thought about touching on breach pregnancies in addition to what they talk about with the brachial plexus injury?

Given that we have touched on HELLP in class, have you thought of maybe elaborating on that a bit?

For the mud, can we please add a photo of a baby being born with an ind on its arm

Are there maybe support groups for high risk pregnancies that we could include links to? Jfriskey (talk) 04:29, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
