Merger proposal

[edit]

It seems like the this new article deals with the same subject as Primordial soup. (Besides, it is not a "theory" but a scientific hypothesis.) @Apokryltaros:, @Drbogdan:, @John D. Croft:, @Sunrise:, your thoughts? Cheers, Rowan Forest (talk) 22:44, 24 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Rowan Forest: I agree that with the current writing both articles are extremely similar; however, my proposal is that "Prebiotic soup" becomes an article dedicated to the composition of the mixture of the "soup" as well as the conditions of the primitive atmosphere, while the article "Heterotrophic theory" is dedicated to the theory per se (this is, the history of the proposal, how it stands against the autotrophic hipothesis and the state of the art in the field) User:Avazquez-salazar (talk) 23:30, 24 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Apokryltaros, Avazquez-salazar, John D. Croft, Rowan Forest, and Sunrise: FWIW - yes - seems best at the moment to merge the "Heterotrophic theory" article with the "Primordial soup" article, since the articles seem sufficiently similar imo - hope this helps in some way - in any case - Enjoy! :) Drbogdan (talk) 02:09, 25 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Rowan Forest: About the theory/hypothesis debate, I suggest this reading: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs00239-016-9773-5

Thank you. The development of Oparin's views and his cultural context can be mentioned in the existing article (Primordial soup). I still don't think duplication of the subject is warranted. Cheers, Rowan Forest (talk) 00:08, 1 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
