Current name for species

[edit]

It appears both from the Dugdale paper cited in the article and the New Zealand Organisms Register that the current accepted name for this species is Heterocrossa charaxias Meyrick, 1891. Unless other editors have an objection I propose editing this article to reflect this.Ambrosia10 (talk) 17:46, 20 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I've done further research on this and I refer any other editors to Volume 9 of the Insects of Hawai where Zimmerman, on page 797 argues that the Heterocrassa genus should not a synonym of Carposina as the genitalia of these genus are distinctive. This was accepted by Dugdale in Lepidoptera - annotated catalogue, and keys to family-group taxa as well as in the 2012 publication New Zealand Inventory of Biodiversity.Ambrosia10 (talk) 04:13, 17 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
