Whiteware
[edit]Pinging significant editors of article: @WereItNotSoSimple, SFBB, and Augmented Seventh: (Please note that I am not knowledgeable in ceramics) The section Biography contains the phrase applying glazes and engobes to whiteware ceramic
with whiteware linked. Whiteware redirects to pottery which does not mention whiteware. Should this link be changed? Porcelain does not appear include many ceramics that are classified as whiteware. Earthenware is rather broad. Should an article "whiteware" be created? BTW: The article White Ware (interestingly capped) is about limestone plaster. White ware is about appliances. The existing articles can be seen below. Thank you! Adakiko (talk) 20:01, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Adakiko: Two things:
- Whiteware should definitely do not redirect to pottery. What's the best solution, I do not know, but it's obvious that pottery is much much wider (both meaning the actual product as well as the technico-cultural aspects).
- I this particular case, the sentence should rather refer to Soft-paste porcelain.

- @SFBB: Change it from
...applying glazes and engobes to whiteware ceramics.
to...applying glazes and engobes to whiteware ceramics.
?...applying glazes and engobes to soft-paste porcelain ceramics.
? I am unfamiliar with the subject and shouldn't make this decision. I changed "aluminum and metal" to "alum and vitrol". link to source 13:39, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
