I've modified the wording to try to make it clear his retirement had been announced/planned before his loss which is what the Con te partirò and Virgil Hill say. Unfortunately I couldn't find an RS (plenty of blogs and boxing forums) in fact one of the few RS (CNN) I found seems to suggest he annouced his retirement after his loss but the info in the other articles is compelling enough to me.
