Notability

Membership of the British Academy is the highest honour available in the UK for people from the Arts and Humanities - and Helen Watanable is one of the very few women among the number. Additionally, her importance in academia is internationally recognised by the inclusion in the German 'Exzellenz-Netz' of outstanding women scholars. Above all, she is the founder of the important organisation of 'Women in German Studies Laehnemann (talk) 09:43, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Any explanation for the 'Watanabe'? Given her father was 'O'Kelly', presumably either her mother was a 'Watanabe', or it's her husband's name? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.2.126.135 (talk) 16:20, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
