Salome translation

[edit]

This article says under Translations: "From English - Oscar Wilde: Salome. This became the libretto for Richard Strauss's opera Salome."

However, in the article on Strauss's Salome (opera) we find: "The libretto is Hedwig Lachmann's German translation of the 1891 French play Salomé by Oscar Wilde."

So is the Lachmann article wrong to say she translated Salome from the English text, rather than Wilde's original French? This seems likely, in which case Salome should be moved from "From English" to "From French" Brymor (talk) 20:20, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
