Cultural references

[edit]

To User:Malleus_Fatuorum. "Good god!" is your rationale for removing my addition. Why remove it? To the average British person, Heaton Norris means nothing. But fans of Mrs Merton will know it through her, therefore giving the town a minor claim to fame, which should be recognised rather than ignored! --TheoMorgan (talk) 23:24, 12 June 2011 (UTC) And I see it's been removed again. It isn't "trivia", but even if it is, why remove it? Who says you're in charge of this page? Plenty of other Wiki pages about places do have "cultural references". Just look at the Manchester page, for example. Very silly. I mean, the article is pretty boring and dry without it. --TheoMorgan (talk) 10:14, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The first issue is that you need a reliable source to back up the text you wish to add. The other problem is that I am not sure it is particularly significant in relation to an encyclopaedia article about the area; it is mentioned by a character in a fictional show.. a lot of shows do that and usually we do not record that matter (as trivial). --Errant (chat!) 10:36, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that it is trivia and does not belong in the article. LadyofShalott 10:37, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I would have removed it if I'd seen it first. This is a settlement article not a repository for such trivia.--J3Mrs (talk) 11:02, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Several editors have said the addition of trivia is not a good idea so it would be in your interests to stop adding it.--J3Mrs (talk) 11:52, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
