Educational philosophy

The "Adventist Advantage" subsection resembles a mission statement and as written, could be characterized as promotional rather than neutral. The following material about a management book she likes also has a bit of promotional flavor, so I suggest a careful rewrite with the neutral point of view foremost in your minds.

I suppose her Adventist Advantage platform could be construed as a mission statement, but I think its notable. That platform was a part of why she was chosen as President of PUC and she formulated it while provost at Andrews. A large part of her professional work is promoting that. Point taken on the book. Thank you, BelloWello, for asking me to take a look. I would name the article Heather Knight, because I think she's most commonly known without the initial. It would be necessary to disambiguate from the cricket player with a hat note.

I think it is worth mentioning that she is black as the Napa Valley papers have mentioned it and readers may wonder given her Jamaican origin. Her date and place of birth would be good information to provide if available.

The article comments on her intent to improve the PUC campus facilities but does not discuss this in the context of the "Eco Village" controversy which has dominated local politics in and around Angwin in recent years.

I think that this represents a very good start on an article about a notable person in Napa County and in Seventh-day Adventist education. I am going to re-read the draft and make some more observations. Cullen328 (talk) 16:09, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

Agreed. Dr. Knight is probably the primary figure for Heather Knight so the hat note would probably be best. I think her ethnicity could perhaps be noted in the context of her being the first black woman to lead an Adventist college? I'm not sure if we have her date/place of birth at this point, do you have this information?

I'm not very familiar with the "eco village" controversy. I'll do my best but would appreciate it if you were to add some of that information from your local expertise. BelloWello (talk) 18:18, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

Dr. Heather Knight was a featured speaker at the annual meeting of the American Association of Colleges and Universities January 27 in San Francisco. At the networking luncheon for faculty and administrators of color, she presented her topic “Race, Gender, and the College Presidency.”
