Notability

[edit]

Is there any WP:RS for this piece/article other than the newly added variant Trappist-1, added to Chessvariants.org February 28, 2017? (The Musketeers link is a proprietary/commercial/promotional link, which doesn't qualify.) --IHTS (talk) 09:21, 4 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please see discussion at Talk:Huygens (chess piece) about the decision to delete or keep individual variant chess piece articles.—LithiumFlash (talk) 14:23, 11 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the tag for deletion, however, a discusion to delete this article can still be considered (along with possible deletion of articles for other variant chess pieces) at Talk:Huygens (chess piece). Here is a review of the Hawk and its notabiity, and a comment about other Wikipedia articles of variant chess pieces. The chess piece "hawk" is:
Defined at a commercial chess website (name and rules match Wikipedia article):
http://musketeerchess.net/site/game-rules/
Defined as a chess piece at CVP (a website for variant chess). The piece name and rules match Wikipedia article:
http://www.chessvariants.com/invention/chess-on-an-infinite-plane
Again defined as a chess at CVP (a website for variant chess):
http://www.chessvariants.com/invention/chess-on-an-infinite-plane-with-f-dunihos-abstract-piece-set
The hawk is used in games at chess.com (a website for chess and chess variants). An example here:
https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess960-chess-variants/chess-on-an-infinite-plane-huygens-option
This can also be compared to the notability of other variant chess pieces with stand-alone Wikipedia articles such as the Camel (chess) (a stub), Centaur (chess), Giraffe (chess), Kirin (chess), Phoenix (chess) (a stub), Threeleaper (a stub), Tripper (chess) (a stub), and Zebra (chess).
