Hasubanans...
[edit]Are there more than two hasubanans in the class? Is Sinomenine a hasubanan? It appears so but the article says it's a morphinan. Nagelfar (talk) 23:17, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
- The difference between Hasubanans and Morphinans has to do with the binding of the piperidine ring - in Hasubanan it is fused to the bridgehead carbons of the fused cyclohexane rings, producing 2 quaternary carbons; in the Morphinans, the piperidine ring bridges only the central cyclohexane ring, producing 1 quaternary carbon. I'm not positive I've used all my terms correctly, but do you see how the structures differ? St3vo (talk) 01:34, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
