General comments on new edit
[edit]From researching details, some slight numerical incompatibilities became apparent. To elaborate:
- A search of the NYC Marriage Index indicated that Wedeen and Kwalwasser married in 1958. The exact date of their marriage in 1958 was not traceable. In the various tributes to Wedeen, some discrepancies on the exact number of years of their marriage resulted:
(a) Dobrin's obituary used the phrase "wife of 56 years" in reference to Kwalwasser. This seems a reasonable inference.
(b) However, in his obituary for Kwalwasser in 2017, Dobrin then stated "she was married to Wedeen for 57 years". These two numbers in the different articles obviously do not match.
(c) To complicate matters even further, this page from the Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association quotes from a statement issued by the Wedeen-Kwalwasser family the phrase "his wife of fifty-five years, Helen Kwalwasser". That would possibly indicate either 1959 or 1960 as the year of the marriage.
I have gone with 1958 as the year of their marriage based on the NYC Marriage Index search. This would appear to make the Dobrin article from 2015 as the most accurate representation of the duration. In addition, other discrepancies arise from the exact length of Wedeen's tenure as chair of the keyboard department. I have removed such text for the sake of consistency. Juilliard information
[edit]Apologies for not including a quick comment on the year of Wedeen's degree from Juilliard. Whilst Dobrin's article mentions 1961, the information from Juilliard says 1960. In this light, I went with Juilliard's information as the primary source, and thus 1960 as the year of Wedeen's degree from Juilliard. DJRafe (talk) 07:51, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
