Add Manchester UNited

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Kosack (talk) 17:53, 14 July 2019 (UTC)

Remove the protection deal will be completed soon. RossButsy (talk) 22:01, 22 July 2019 (UTC)

Add another protection until deal is officially announced by both clubs. All other talk is just speculation from unreliable media companies. RossButsy (talk) 15:48, 2 August 2019 (UTC)

@RossButsy: The page is still protected. Kosack (talk) 16:12, 2 August 2019 (UTC)

Man Utd player

It's official, he is a Manchester United player. Can we update it please? 😊 Mrsatchie (talk) 16:21, 2 August 2019 (UTC)

Do you have a source to go with it? Iggy (Swan) 16:28, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
I see news sources claiming the deal is done, but I also see sources saying he will have a medical over the weekend, which suggests to me it won't be officially announced until Monday (as Manchester United are playing in Cardiff tomorrow). No reason to change the article until then. – PeeJay 16:34, 2 August 2019 (UTC)

Man United Player

I don't understand what you're trying to intimate here. The transfer is not complete until the paperwork is approved by the FA, which we will know once the clubs announce the move. Until then, there shouldn't be any changes here. – PeeJay 22:50, 4 August 2019 (UTC)

That type of editing from one or more people is getting tedious now and should be classed as vandalism with a theme to that. Iggy (Swan) (What I've been doing to maintain Wikipedia) 15:17, 9 December 2019 (UTC)

I agree it is getting tiresome so I have semi-protected for a month. Keith D (talk) 19:08, 9 December 2019 (UTC)

Status of Conviction

Are we sure that his conviction has been quashed? While Manchester United's statement claims it has been extinguished this has been disputed by a couple of lawyers. Prosecution lawyer Ioannis Paradissis said in an interview with The Sun (yeah, I know) ""Maguire remains a convicted person. Reports suggesting that the conviction has been nullified are wrong. The conviction has been temporarily suspended until the appeals court trial." ( https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/12522590/harry-maguire-greek-prosecutor-bbc-interview-fantasy/ ). Gregory Ionaiddis, a lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University and Sky/BBC media contributor, says on his blog regarding the idea of nullification "This cannot be further from the truth and it is, with respect, erroneous and misleading. An appeal process can never extinguish a court verdict and can never nullify a conviction, at least, not before such appeal process has come to a conclusion with a final outcome." (http://lawtop20.blogspot.com/2020/08/harry-maguires-biggest-defensive-role.html)

The media sources saying the conviction has been nullified/quashed/extinguished may well just be going off the Manchester United statement. I know it's not the done thing to include blogs and The Sun on Wikipedia, but I'm concerned that the impression the article gives is inaccurate. Rambo Apocalypse (talk) 17:25, 28 August 2020 (UTC)

Rambo Apocalypse, the BBC article doesn't support the assertion as a statement of fact - they attribute it to Manchester United - I've reworded so that we are not saying it in Wikipedia's voice. Does that satisfy your concern? GirthSummit (blether) 17:52, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
Yes, Girth Summit that satisfies my concern, although I am now concerned that I'm being followed. Rambo Apocalypse (talk) 18:09, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
Girth Summit, it's asserted by the BBC - they state: In accordance with Greek law, the appeal nullifies Maguire's conviction and there will be a full retrial in a more senior court. So I've reworded it again. Later in the same article they also quote Man U as stating: This means that Harry has no criminal record and is once again presumed innocent until proven guilty. Accordingly, he is not subject to any international travel restrictions. -- DeFacto (talk). 18:49, 28 August 2020 (UTC)

Another source for the prosecutor's comments for future reference in case this comes up again. Again, source isn't great ( https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/08/28/harry-maguires-account-bbc-interview-labelled-ridiculous-insulting/ ), but it is another independent source. Rambo Apocalypse (talk) 18:09, 28 August 2020 (UTC)

Don't worry Rambo Apocalypse, I'm not following you. I'm a patroller - I've got a lot (>20,000) pages on my watchlist. I saw the edit pop up, and looked because I recognised your username and thought I hadn't seen you around for a while. I agreed with your concern, and so changed the article - welcome back. Goals are Inaccurate

Maguire has 3 goals for United, not 2. Or is it just league goals? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.166.37.70 (talk) 20:38, 8 January 2021 (UTC)

It is just league appearance/goals in the infobox. Keith D (talk) 01:58, 9 January 2021 (UTC)

Typo

Not sure how this works - in the section on 2020-21 season it says he received racist treats. I was going to change it to threats but it appears to be locked at present. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.211.123.168 (talk) 16:46, 16 February 2021 (UTC)

Archive box not showing

Can't seem to think why the archive box on this talk page is not showing up despite the fact that on Talk:Cristiano Ronaldo has it visible with similar source codes on these two pages. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 21:46, 24 December 2022 (UTC)

Could you change Maguire's main photo to this (Harry Maguire WC2022.jpg)? As it is new like old days when Maguire's WC 2018 was the main photo. 41.234.181.9 (talk) 20:58, 6 August 2023 (UTC)
