PR?
[edit]I think some of c-of-c stuff should be eliminated. External awards "1000 best places" fine. But a lot of the rest, which is subjective, should be chunked. This is an encylopedia not a c-of-c brochure. Maybe some of it could go into WikiTravel?Student7 02:14, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
Crime
[edit]How come no one mentioned Hardwick jokes or meth or crime or any of the other things that make life in Hardwick (or the surrounding area) so unique. 64.223.106.101 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 04:18, 17 January 2010 (UTC).
- Crime statistics can be entered under a public safety subtitle, with appropriate sustaining WP:RELY footnotes. Meth could be under crime as well, if thoroughly documented. Jokes? Hard to come up with unique jokes for an area. They would likewise have to be documented as unique to the area, nearly impossible, I would assume, since the sources have to be reliable. Photos
[edit]Photos seem interesting. I think that construction dates are needed for the older buildings. Certainly the post office design is unique. Don't really see what footbridge pic is doing there. Hard to see. I recommend deletion. Also, unclear what food coop is doing there. Does seem to show poverty of the area. Student7 (talk) 00:00, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
Quote
[edit]Some material read "In 2011 Outside Magazine proclaimed Hardwick the 'Next Big Thing' due to the town reinventing 'itself as one large co-op, with vibrant community-agriculture programs' and serving as a 'gateway to the wild, woolly Northeast Kingdom . . skiing in Stowe, fly-fishing near Johnson, and mountain biking in East Burke.Streep, Abe (OCTOBER 2011 (29 August 2011)). "HARDWICK, VERMONT Next Big Thing". Outside Magazine. Retrieved 29 May 2013. {{cite news}}

(help)"
Clearly "Outside Magazine" hypes areas. Hardwick is a run-down community in the Northeast Kingdom, the poorest region, not only of the state, but probably one of the worst in the country. Outside Magazine should probably not be used since it is not WP:RS.
"Serving as a gateway" is applicable to every town in the world. A gateway to somewhere else? It would make no sense to go to Hardwick. Why not go to the somewhere elses? This is why it is not in other place articles. It is non-WP:TOPIC. Material here should be germane to Hardwick. Why would anyone want to go to Hardwick and actually stay there?
