Notability

[edit]

This company is notable for all the community work it does with the Edmonton and Greater Alberta communities. However, I was unable to out up verifiable sources before my posting of this, and was going to confirm their relevance before posting such claims. They hold several fund raisers each year, the most recent of which was the 24hour comic day in which they. raised money for literacy in Alberta. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sketchpcis (talkcontribs) 21:56, 2 December 2007

updating article: name changes and arson

[edit]

Partial list of news on this shop (not sure if I have complete story): (some tweets with @WHComics username because @HHComics twitter changed username to @WHComics )

  • Dec 19, 2018 tweet that Happy Harbor was closing.
  • Dec 22, 2018 tweet: "... Wonderland Games from Grand Prairie has purchased HH ..."
  • 2018-Dec-25 wayback of homepage (with "Edmonton's Award winning comic store" part of page changed to "Wonderland Edmonton") says "Dec. 22 Important HH Announcement" (announcement page with headline "HH LIVES ON! SAY HELLO TO WONDERLAND GAMES!"
  • Dec 31, 2018 tweet "...transition into becoming #WonderlandGames ..."
  • 2019 January 27 article at ctvnews.ca said "store ... will be renamed Wonderland Games Edmonton"
  • 2020-Nov-29 wayback of @HHComics twitter has the twitter account being named "The Wonderharbour!" where @HHComic (of the shop) tweet links now forward to @WHComics twitter username (example: 2020-Nov tweet has username "@WHComics" and name "Wonder Harbour Comics").
    • (older wayback) 2015-08-21 wayback of @HHComics says "Joined November 2009"
    • wayback on 2022 Jan 1 of empty twitter page (because shop changed twitter username)
    • presumably someone else starting using @HHcomics username, because trying @HHcomics username in 2022 April resulted in "@hhcomics's account is temporarily unavailable because it violates the Twitter Media Policy."
  • latest wayback (2022 July wayback) of happyharborcomics.com has their name as "WonderHarbour" with homepage "Last updated: May 26, 2021".
  • In 2022 March there was an arson attack that destroyed WonderHarbour shop (resulting in a "Save WonderHarbour" GoFundMe): GlobalNews, CBR, and icv2.com (icv2 page also says "Joyall purchased the business in 2019 and renamed it Wonder Harbour Comics.")
  • happyharborcomics.com is now a default page, but whois says "Creation Date: 2003-07-30", so maybe website will return. (ie. probably not cybersquatted)
  • Hope this makes sense, have to heading for dinner with friend now.
