39th or 1st mayor of Jacksonville?

[edit]

@Ankermast: We can't just call Tanzler the first mayor of Jax. He was the 39th mayor of Jax, and after he was elected, my parents helped vote for Consolidation. A year later, he became the first mayor of the "consolidated" Jacksonville, which included most of Duval County. But Jacksonville was still Jacksonville; it just had expanded borders and a more powerful mayor. This very article says, "Tanzler became the last mayor of the old city government and the first mayor of a consolidated Jacksonville." It also says Tanzler was preceded in office by Lou Ritter, meaning they were mayors of the same city.

I'm not sure Tanzler was 39th, though. List of mayors of Jacksonville, Florida says he was 37th. YoPienso (talk) 02:28, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It would be ideal if we could have it both ways, but the infobox doesn't allow both
office = 38th Mayor of Jacksonville
office = 2nd Mayor of Consolidated Jacksonville YoPienso (talk) 02:41, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
