[edit]"This is a very controversial guy. Edits will have to be carefully watched to make sure they are not POV or biaised for or against Hannes." -- User:Palthrow
"213.213.141.202: Your edit does not meet NPOV standards, e.g. "even if broadly correct", "The tax reforms of the Oddsson government have also been very important for the overall success.", "[Hannes is considered to be an] Icelandic original". Your English also needs to be fixed in a few place. The goods on Davíð Oddson's feud with Baugur does not really belong in this article. Just mentioning it would do. Put the rest in the Davíð Oddson entry. Please fix this soon or I will" --Palthrow
OK, no problem. Thanks for suggestions. I am new at this.
He is indeed controversial and it is pretty clear that the entry has been written mostly by him or someone close to him. The facts, if not directly misreported, are narrated to present him in a favourable light. For example, he was actually found guilty of plagiarism (which many would consider cause for dismissal when the plagiarist is university professor) but no damages were awarded to the heirs of the author concerned (Laxness) because of technical errors on the part of the prosecution. The verdict of plagiarism still stands. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.144.71.188 (talk) 01:45, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
autobiographical changes
[edit]A lot of changes have been made by user Hannes H. Gissurarson, who may be autobiographical, and need to be double-checked for NPOV accuracy.
This item was not written by Hannes H. Gissurarson, but rather by Salvor Gissurardottir who is a frequent contributor to Wikipedia. The changes made by Hannes H. Gissurarson are all minor, corrections or additions, and do not seem to have any bias. There is no example provided of bias. Therefore the autobiographical warning tag has been removed. It should only be reintroduced with an argument and examples of biases.
- It is worth mentioning that user Salvor Gissurardottir is subject's sister -- a questionable source from a NPOV. However, I can see no obvious cases of bias, apart from coverage some subjects of dubious relevance or general interest. -- Palthrow 20:37, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
I'm too lazy, but ...
[edit]... will someone please take the trouble of coördinating naming conventions. Icelandes go by first names and no amount of traditional English usage will change that. It is a sign of disrespect to garble someone's name. The same goes for many if not most of the articles about or containing Icelanders. Cheers Io (talk) 21:47, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
- He wrote most of it himself so I guess he's okay with. It's still very irritating and I support changing it. Haukur (talk) 22:35, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
- Or, rather, he and his sister wrote most of it but the point stands. Haukur (talk) 10:56, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- If that annoys you, try this source; he wrote that himself too. The "dysfunctional socialist" bit is funny already, but "Why did Iceland..." cracks me up every time I read it. Dysmorodrepanis (talk)
- Yes, high inflation, huge government deficit, dysfunctional economy. How glad I am that we have put these socialist horrors behind us under the stalwart leadership of Davíð Oddsson. Haukur (talk) 10:51, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
