Notability Requirements

[edit]

Salukk (talk) 19:52, 4 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Awwad fulfills the following requirement: "The person has had a substantial impact outside academia in their academic capacity." (WP:PROF#7) Awwad founded the Palestinian Section of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, serving as the Middle East advisor. She was a teacher assistant and then she became the Head of the Department of Humanities at Abu Dis college. She also was the cultural advisor for Yasser Arafat. She has done a lot of work around women's empowerment and journalists' work, outside of academia.

General: Article is new enough and long enough

Policy compliance:

Hook eligibility:

  • Cited: Yes
  • Interesting: No - I dislike the "and was cultural advisor to Yasser Arafat" section. I feel like the hook should just be about 1 fact, squishing 2 together feels unnatural. I would remove this.
QPQ: Done.

Thanks for the review, Mcguy15.
  • QuakerSquirrel, User:Salukk, I'm sorry to be raining on this parade. First of all, let me say I have no problem with the Arafat factoid being in the hook also--but the article is in desperate need of independent sourcing. User:Mccapra added that tag almost a month ago, and it's still valid. Without them, the question of notability is open. Besides, the article needs cleaning up before we put it on the front page. I suggest adding the titles of her works in Arabic (and putting the translation in quotation marks and in parentheses), and using proper citation templates for the references--including publisher, accessdate, etc. User:Mcguy, I appreciate the review, but DYK articles get on the front page and should make us look good. It can be done, but the article is not yet there. Drmies (talk) 19:25, 13 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • QuakerSquirrel hasn't edited since the end of July and there are existing article issues. Unless another editor adopts this or she returns, it doesn't appear that the article will meet the DYK requirements at this time. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 07:04, 21 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
